https://www.washingtonpost.com/opinions/this-texas-weather-is-a-chilling-reminder-about-our-battered-power-grid/2021/02/16/a9282ba0-708c-11eb-93be-c10813e358a2_story.html

Useful analysis.   Grid is only as strong as its weakest member.

Finally rose above zero F.  today.    Several days with lows near minus 20, highs at minus 5 - 10.   Had to route a length of flex duct into a crawl space,  so that the pipes there (already insulated)  wouldn't freeze.  Stuffed in more batt insulation.  Space heater running constantly in kitchen.

What else... water bottles stored on the basement floor froze.   In plastic jugs,  fortunately.  Chilblains - normally a rare condition, pretty common if you skip wool socks and insulated boots.  Pet water bowl near back door iced over.  When it's around twenty below,  you also get a weird disparity between thermostat temp and temp close to a wall or window.   It's only 68 within a couple feet of the thermostat.  The cold feels like it's reaching out from the walls and shoving a chilled hand down your neck.  Cats basically turn into permanent fixtures on your lap,  stomach, or tucked up against the legs.  Car batteries fail, have to put them on a charger (get the kind that charges through the cigarette lighter).   All dietary discipline lapses.   There's a profound urge to put butter on everything.

IOW,  so thankful we had power here.   Without it,  we'd have to flee to a shelter.   Stay warm, you all.
It gets cold in South Dakota in February.

You stupid SOB. You used the current failure of the current power grid in Texas, and the suffering of the people there, to criticize the Green New Deal which currently exists only in the minds of some well-intentioned idealists. The “lie” is in your no doubt forthcoming reply where you deny doing so. You are one dumb “educator.”

I feel like a cat toying with a mouse when I engage with Red. But mice have far more engaging qualities.

No, it was not the Green New Deal that is the problem with your power outage.

Energy Deregulation was implemented. In Texas Only. Texas wanted nothing to do with Federal Regulation.

Texas harvests the fruits of their labors.

My post read

That green new deal doesn’t look so good in Texas right now.

Since the Green New Deal is predicated on ending ALL Reliance on Fossil fuels please explain what objection you have to my post.

Red has been impregnated by the same schmuck as Kid. They share a baby daddy.

My wife would read the forum and in her opinion, kidcarter8 is a true believer and Red does this across the net to supplement his income.

Unless Red spends his time with on-line suveys, who the fuck would pay him for empty calories and snarky bullshit? There is literally nothing there to pay for.

They are also cleaner.

So does Red agree with trump about McConnell or with McConnell about trump or does he agree with both or is this what passes for foreplay now in republican circles?

Remember.
The Biden Administration’s plan to banish fossil fuels is a greater existential threat to Americans than climate change.
As Texas is proving.

Red you hung the problems in Texas on an energy proposal that exists only on paper and in the dreams of some progressives.

Your disingenuous approach escapes no one.

Yankguy specifcally addressed your bullshit
