For some reason Larry is operating under the delusion that Biden has an overwhelming mandate.

He doesn't.

Larry was told before the election, Biden would be operating in a 50/50 world.

I am not prescient, but I saw the political world as it is not as it appears in a dream

Its 50/50 in the Senate

and he's got 3 vote margin in the House.

and that is hand Biden gets to play.

BUT YELL GO BIG

and watch as the $7T bill gets cut to $1.5T

thats the reality.

You keep missing the point!

Fuck the top line numbers. Focus on what is in the legislation and what it will do.

You are doing the same thing the Beltway pundits do not recognizing the  REAL world.

After getting concession after concession Manchin still can

Larry the point has already been made (just scroll up) that Americans don't know whats in the bill because the Dems have done such as miserable job of marketing and communicating the message.

What Americans have seen is the cost and are wondering how will it get paid for and will my grand kids get the bill?

Because?

All together now,

DEMS DID A BRUTAL JOB OF MARKETING AND SELLING/TELLING THEIR POSITION TO VOTERS.

And that is why Manchinema feel the need to trash the legislation?

It is less clear which priorities voters most want to spend that money on.

When asked to choose the most and least important parts of the Build Back Better Acts many policies, taxing the rich was most frequently cited as a top priority, with 13 percent of respondents choosing the measure. (The poll surveyed 1,224 likely voters and had a sampling margin of error of plus or minus 3 percentage points.)

Expanding Medicare benefits to cover dental, vision, and hearing also showed strong support, with 12 percent of respondents ranking it the highest priority, and another 12 percent picked policies to increase access to long-term care for older adults and people with disabilities. Republicans were especially supportive of the provisions for health care and long-term care for older adults, compared to Democrats, who most frequently cited the tax increases and clean-energy measures as top priorities.

People want 5he bill. The folks who are not sold are Beltway pundits and the Manchin Sinema dog and pony show.

The Dem party is dysfunctional because the various factions are acting in very narrowly defined arcs of perceived self interest and not looking for areas where they can agree.

Two ironies there.   One,  bringing home the big legislation is in even the most narrowly defined self-interest of getting reelected.  And two,  the modern Democratic Party has one of its most basic motifs as people working together and transcending factional differences.   It is dismal to behold.  If we cannot get an LBJ to yank up Joe Mansion by his beagle ears,  then someone just give the man a coal-powered spaceport just outside Charleston.

How so?

Dems won special election for Deb Haaland seat in New Mexico by a huge margin

Dems blew out the recall election in Cali

NJ governorship won by slim margin despite stupid campaign by Murphy (if you do not like taxes get the fuck out of jersey) and narrowly lost VA with a terrible candidate who had shit on who should have been his best associates.

Splitting those elections represent a historic win in off year elections.

So far, but any logical standard the Dems are having a hell of a year.

The two bills (Infrastructure and reconciliation) by any standard make for a BIG FUCKING DEAL.

Remember Barton claims to be an independent thinker.
But woe to any democrat who strays from the progressive party line.
Those people must be attacked at the ears and punished.
People like LBJ excoriated Barry Goldwater when he said
Extremism in defense of liberty is no vice, moderation in pursuit of Justice is no virture.
Now Barton turns that phrase on its head to push leftist totalitarianism.
And he actually believes it.

Fortunately the democrat  grip on the Brandon Administration is so rudderless and weak it is sinking to hell under its own weight.

Oh those polls!

More than half of voters support workers refusing to comply with mandatory vaccination against COVID-19, and believe that firing workers for non-compliance would hurt the U.S. economy.

The latest Rasmussen Reports national telephone and online survey finds that 52% of Likely U.S. Voters say they support workers refusing to comply with workplace requirements to get COVID-19 vaccines. Thirty-eight percent (38%) do not support workers resisting the mandates, while 10% are not sure.
