2021 took another turn for the better.

From USA Today

Rush Limbaugh, the talk titan who made right-wing radio financially viable in American media and himself a Republican kingmaker years before Fox News died Wednesday, after he revealed in 2020 that his lung cancer was terminal. He was 70.

His death was confirmed by his wife, Kathryn, at the beginning of Limbaugh's Thursday radio show, from which he's been absent for almost two weeks.

https://www.usatoday.com/story/entertainment/celebrities/2021/02/17/rush-limbaugh-conservative-radio-host-has-died-lung-cancer-70/5998621002/

A bigoted drug addict dies. So what?

RIH, Rush.

Ah yes, right wing.
Like the hosts on my Sky News last night pointing out the folly of relying on renewables as the only source of energy.

Sky news host are truly rancid crackers renowned for lying shamelessly to their drooling idiotic audience.

Rush left his Horcrux in the trump plaza hotel and casino.

If we blow up more trump branded properties, it will be interesting to see what other dark arts practitioners suddenly drop dead.

"But the world around you is a rat race where only the strong survive
It's a dog-eat-dog world and that ain't no lie."

The Republican myth of American "Rugged individualism"

https://www.washingtonpost.com/nation/2021/02/17/texas-mayor-power-outages-colorado/

Nothing wrong with "rugged individualism" as an ideal...but if that's how it's going to be totally, "look after yourself", then the system has to be different.
The "rugged individual" must be allowed to make his/her own rules.

Anyway, that no-idea mayor has resigned.
Hopefully the next one will be much better for the People.

Sky News hosts, one is my "no1 radio host" now on TV,  were only pointing out what their audience already knew , having been educated by said radio host for decades on radio, ...that when wind turbines are frozen, they don't work...when the sun doesn't shine solar is useless...and if there's no fossil-fueled back up system you're basically stuffed, people freeze and people die, needlessly.

You shouldn’t speak of the dead unless it is to say something good...

Rush Limbaugh is dead.

Good.

In reality the fossil fuel system is fucked and the wind and solar are picking up the slack.

Lack of winterization is hitting all technologies because regulatory agencies in Texas function as bribe funnels in a fervently self-rapturing political climate, but it’s hitting coal and gas hardest and nuclear most worryingly.

If your #1 radio host wants to go and join Rush, that his problem. He shouldn’t be given a platform to spread lies convincing you all to go with him. It’s a sick and bad business that he’s on the air.

KTLA 5 News

16 hours  ·

NASA’s Perseverance rover, set to land on Mars on Thursday and look for signs of ancient life on the red planet, was designed, built and managed at Jet Propulsion Laboratory near Pasadena.

Here's what you need to know ahead of the historic landing.

https://ktla.com/news/local-news/perseverance-nasas-latest-rover-set-to-land-on-mars-this-week-was-built-in-l-a-s-backyard/

---------------------

We need to get the scientists from JPL and from NASA, etc, to mentor the foster youth, and the children without fathers, etc.

And all of the schools need to be discussing NASA and JPL activities with the children, to inspire their imaginations, and to also get the kids to consider careers at NASA after they grow up, etc. This is good healthy stuff for the kids.

Salute,

Tony V.

If you live in the NYC metropolitan area, get ready for another snow storm. We are already double the normal rate of snowfall for the winter, and the forecast is for 6-12" starting Thursday, early am, and going on into Friday.

Depending on the speed of the storm, some folks in the area could see as much 18" more snow for this storm.

Be well, and be ready for more winter fun!

What about a "privilege walk" for all White House staff?
Could be arriving soon.

Daily Telegraph editorial: Governor-General’s ‘privilege walk’ is woke madness

Woke madness has now reached one of the highest offices in Australia.

As The Daily Telegraph reports, the Governor-General’s staff will soon embark on what is known as a “privilege walk”.

If you have never heard of such a thing, consider yourself fortunate. During your average privilege walk, participants go through various exercises to identify their levels of privilege and entitlement.

For example, they may be asked to take a step forward if they are right-handed, if English is their first language or if they can easily buy bandages that match their skin tone.

But they must take a step back if they have ever had to primarily rely on public transport.

In the case of staff working for the Governor-General, they should be able to complete the privilege walk in record time.

That is because they very much are privileged, straight off the bat. They are privileged to work in that office. They are profoundly privileged to represent the Australian people.
And they should be extremely proud of doing so.

Instead, however, they will endure a form of ritual shaming.

Now is the time we should be spending. Now is the time to go big...”

Joe Biden tonight

https://www.jsonline.com/story/news/politics/2021/02/16/joe-biden-pitch-coronavirus-relief-plan-tonight-milwaukee/6752776002/

He's talking about relief Larry.

Not the laundry list of social programs that you pushed for pre-election.

for example tonight he shot down the lady on college debt forgiveness of $50k

Joe understands what I told you last June-this is a 50-50 world, and going smart was the key to building a consensus to keep Congress in '22 and the WH in '24.

Joe's smart agenda would be to

control-defeat covid

fix the economy

get O-Care nailed down

infrastructure projects

voting rights

and not scare the crap out of the middle of the electorate who will determine if more social advances can be undertaken in '22-28.

If he's successful there, and the economy rebounds, there should be enough there to keep Congress in '22

Joe understand politics and policies, which is why he'll limit himself to go smart.

Gee.

Sounds mighty big to me.

I am right-handed, my first language is English, and I can easily buy bandages to match my skin tone.
So I would have to step forward for shaming.
An accident of birth, but I must forever be ashamed.
Oh well, such is the woke world of today.

In this case I would play the game, act very ashamed...to keep my very considerable salary.
Don't play the game, I could be soon missing from my desk.

Got a plan for if a "privilege walk" reaches your place of employment?

As the IPA’s Bella d’Abrera points out: “The employees of the Office of the Governor are being told that they have ‘white guilt’ and ‘inherited guilt’ which they are obliged to overcome. They might as well be wearing sackcloth and ashes.”

Charles Sturt University trainers will provide their privilege walk expertise to the Governor-General’s staff for free, which at least is an accurate indication of its value.

This entire enterprise springs from US academic theories about “unconscious bias” and other peculiar racial obsessions.

“How do they know these biases exist if they are unconscious?” NSW One Nation MP Mark Latham sensibly asks.
“The whole thing is a circular piece of nonsense. For the Governor-General’s office to be doing it with federally funded universities is appalling.”

The walk is said to be voluntary, but pressure to conform with woke directives is powerful in Canberra.

Sadly, most staffers will likely go along with the walk.
But the rest of us need to take a stand not against themselves but against these increasingly Orwellian practices.[/i]

Yes, like I've been saying here for years..."if it happens in America/if they get away with it in America...then next minute it appears on my doorstep".

Red thinks nuclear power is going to boom and coal stick around forever.
Exceedingly deluded.

Even if every new car sold from tomorrow on was an EV we would still need to increases in energy produced by fossil fuels.

Uh, that is rather a pointless and dumb comment.

Otherwise, the problem in TX seems to be that equipment at gas and coal plants froze up.  And that TX maintains its own grid.  I read that TX wind plants actually provided more electricity than expected the past few days.

Moreover, wind turbines in cold weather regions incorporate technology that heats the blades, either via an outer layer of carbon fiber with thermal wiring and/or by pumping warm air inside the blades.  No idea if TX has such winterized turbine systems, but it's a simple part of wind energy technology.  Just as coal and gas power plants need to be winterized to continue to function in sub-freezing conditions.  Which is where TX failed.
