A funny thing happened on the way to the forum, this morning.

RIP.  From WAPO

West Side Story, which opened in Washington in August 1957, proved a radical and life-changing project for the young man, although Mr. Sondheim would always be embarrassed by some of his lyrics, particularly those for I Feel Pretty.

I had this uneducated Puerto Rican girl singing Its alarming how charming I feel, he said. You know, she would not have been unwelcome in Noel Cowards living room...

Let me put the lede chat out of its misery.  My father was a newspaperman for 50 years.  Bury the lead has a different meaning to printers and typesetters, who were working then with linotypes and casting molten lead, so the guys in the newsroom felt it was less confusing to change lead to lede.  Thats it.  No big deal and it is still okay if you are a purist to use lead instead.  But most journalists preferred lede even after the linotype was obsolete simply because it became a professional shibboleth.

How presumptuous of you to speak for most journalists.
The controversy over lead/lede is all yours, a chat started by you that no one disagreed with.

The final word.

You schmucks who use ridiculous journo-terms make me crazy! Finally, someone is willing to speak out against the use of  lede in public. Because, ha ha, sucka, there is no reason for it! (Plus, MOST OF YOU ARE JUST BLOGGERS.)

Not sure if you are capable of embarrassment.   But the fact that you got to where you were walking some of your comment/quote back is perhaps progress.

So important, he had to say it twice.

Guess posting is not his strength.

System worked and is still working

DA was crooked.  She protected the McMicheals, who she was close with.

Now the former DA, she has been arrested.  She will likely plea to the lesser misdemeanor charge and do no jail time.  Damage done as she lost re-election and will likely never hold office again.

Peace out, Georgia.

That you think what you just described is the system working is emblematic of the problems this country has.

She should not get off that easily. Corruption is a major problem and her willingness to subvert the rule of law to let her friends get off is a huge issue, not a small one.

Oh shut the fuck up.

The perpetrators are convicted, and still facing federal charges. They're not going anywhere.
