One thing that the world always respected about the USA was that we were not corrupt,

At what point in our history were we not corrupt. Tony?

I must have missed some period of time.

Tammany examples to list in this space.  Even if I added news ones on a Daley basis.

---The Texas Republican Party just voted 'overwhelmingly' to reject the legitimacy of Biden's 2020 election win and is trying to stir up fear about 'possible fraud' in the upcoming midterms---

They also voted to begin a secession process.  I think Texas should definitely do that.  See how long they manage with an energy policy moron at the helm, and no federal money, trade agreements with the world, or other amenities that derive from the Union.

As a net donor state, in standard looks at the economics of money given into the federal pot versus money received from it, one might think that they would be okay.

But the give/take picture ignores money spent by the federal government in the state, but not passing through the state's coffers. That means the US military bases, which generate over $130 billion in activity per year, while contributing either directly or indirectly more than 800,000 jobs. It means the border, which the US covers, in addition to the $3 billion Texas is already spending there (including $1 billion of COVID money they transferred to it). So much more.

So, yes, it would be interesting to see how they managed, were they to actually secede, but I don't see its happening.

Me either.  Sort of equivalent to a "maguffin" in a movie.  It moves the story forward for the voters who need an exciting plot.  Reagan promises particle beams to shoot down ICBMs.  Texas candidates promise a new Lone Star republic.

News Item

The Supreme Court on Tuesday extended a recent streak of victories for religious interests, striking down a Maine tuition program that does not allow public funds to go to schools that promote religious instruction.
The vote was 6 to 3, with Chief Justice John G. Roberts Jr. writing for the majority and the court

No precedents are safe and "originalist" philosophy is a joke.

As the Catholics and Baptists make clear again and again, many of these religious schools are primarily rape factories. It is not a surprise that judges appointed by the cocaine orgy party want public funds available to support them.

Republican corruption runs deep.

The RNC itself is criminally complicit in the loser trump conspiracy.

What happens to felonious organizations?

Another way to ask it is what price are Enron shares selling for today?

Mefiez-vous de la femme

A legally armed woman shot an alleged attacker inside a HyVee grocery store Sunday morning in Des Moines, Iowa.
FOX 32 reports that the woman fired shots around 10 a.m., after allegedly being attacked by 30-year-old Kapri Lashawn Francis.
Francis was shot in the leg.
KCCI notes that police indicated Francis launched a totally unprovoked attack against the woman. Francis allegedly attacked the woman and put her in a headlock, prior to shots being fired.
Des Moines police department Sgt. Paul Parizek said Lawfully possessed and responsibly handled firearms can enhance public safety.
