On this Labor Day I am grateful for how far the workers have come here in America since the beginning. The workers have come a long way in America.

The first thought is that we had our Civil War and we banned slavery. Freeing the slaves was a huge step forward for the workers.

Then, I am reminded of Eugene V. Debs and the Pullman Railroad Car company. The workers worked hard for low pay, and then the company owned their housing and their grocery stores, etc, and the workers worked hard and never escaped debt. It was all about "Another day older and deeper in debt." Debs went to prison a couple times as he worked to organize the workers to form a union. Nowadays a job building railroad cars would be a good job, thanks to the labor movement and guys like Eugene V. Debs.

Then we had Jimmy Hoffa for the truck drivers, and the Teamsters Union. Now, thanks to Hoffa, driving a truck is a good job, and a trucker can buy a home and raise a family. Nowadays a trucker can earn $100,000 per year.

Then, we had Cesar Chavez, who organized the Farm Workers. My family picked fruit when they first came to California during the Great Depression, and many people have started out as fruit pickers here in California when they first come here. Farm Workers have come a long way thanks to Cesar Chavez and the United Farm Workers.

And now in the USA we have child labor laws, 8 hour work days, 40 hour work weeks, minimum wage rules, and many other blessings thanks to the Labor Movement.

We have come a long way, and there is much to be grateful for as we look at what the Labor Movement has achieved here in the USA.

Salute,

Tony V.

There is also a hell of a lot more to do. Long live the Union and the unions that are its life blood.

Good post, Tony.

Happy Labor Day.

Keep marching.

Thanks!

Happy Labor Day!

And yes, we have a long way to go, I want for us here in California to find our way back to the Garden, we have 60,000 homeless people in Los Angeles alone. Instead of living in a tent on the sidewalk on the street, then the workers need to live in a Garden, California can be a Garden, and the people can plant and grow and pick food, and the people can raise animals, and the people can make cheese, etc. And we can export food from California to feed the workers in China, etc.

We also need to work for a cleaner environment and we need to build high speed trains, and subways, etc. And we need a high speed train between Anaheim and Las Vegas. As well as a high speed train between Los Angeles and Lancaster.

We also need to build more schools, colleges, and trade schools, etc, and we need to hire more teachers. The best way to help the poor is to send them teachers. An education is the great equalizer, and our people need to know how to make steel, and glass, and paper, and wine, our people need to know how to produce things that we need.

And as we turn California into a Garden then we can have libraries and schools for the people.

Also, Battle Mountain, Nevada, has land for $1,000 per acre, we can build great Santorini, Greece, style apartments for the people and they can raise animals and they can grow flowers, and they can grow and make mustard, etc, and they can do trade with San Francisco, etc.

As we move into the future, we need to have love, and community, and California can be a Garden with the people who are currently homeless living in Greek style apartments working growing food, and making cheese, and making wine, etc.

We have come a long way in the United States since the beginning, and we still have a long way to go, we need to get the homeless into a Garden. We have Merced where people can grow food and we have Napa, etc, California has a lot of blessings and we can turn California into paradise for the people who are homeless right now who are suffering, we can help them and we can ease the suffering.

Salute,

Tony V.

He is certainly off to an excellent start and is headed in the right direction.

No word today from our trump sucking criminal underclass.

Me, too.  Could have been a much more wayward Democrat - and one who could stay 8 years.

Kid, you will end your days with Joe Biden still serving as President, still passing good laws, still appointing good judges, still correctly calling you a semi-fascist while the nation safely and steadily prospers.

Here are some reasons why,

A glimpse at Britain, the clear result of allowing conservative control of government, courtesy of Pie,

http://youtu.be/m5aWtcx02ZI

Things are getting as bad there as Indiana was under Mike Pence.

It highlights what is at stake in our election, demonstrating the direction republicans will take any part of this country if they are given the chance.

We have to knock maga republicans down and kick them till they no longer try to rise up. It may be generations of work, but not only is it an existential key to our survival but also a moral imperative for all loyal Americans that connects us to freedom loving people around the world.

"If Mr. Fetterman is not well enough to debate his opponent, that raises serious concerns about his ability to serve as a United States senator," the Post-Gazette editorial board wrote.

Oz only has to make up eight points. If he can get around the small pile of crudities blocking him he might pull his numbers up over 40 percent. Why is Oz not running in New Jersey? Did his neighbors inform him of his chances? Or maybe he tries that next.
