Kudos to the new House GOP for knocking out 80$billion to hire 87,000 IRS gestapos to audit average Americans.

Recent Tweet from Randi Weingarten (Head of the American Federation of Teachers) about Covid lockdowns of schools.

What we have seen in public education is that technology cannot replace teachers. Remote education did not work in part because you have to have relationships. You have to build trust.

Evidence of what resulted.

Overall, 9-year-olds scored, on average, seven points lower on the National Assessment of Educational Progress math test last winter than two years earlier, just before the pandemic erupted. That is the steepest fall ever. They also scored five points lower in English, the sharpest plunge in 30 years.

Math scores for black students  who tend to live in areas where the unions kept schools closed longest  fell a whopping 13 points.
Is that systemic racism?

Meanwhile Weingarten and her AFT used Covid money for salary increases above funding educational purposes.

What Weingarten really accomplished was giving a boost for charter, private, religious, and schooling at home alternatives.

Amen.

Just the opposite. There are not enough rich people left to fund the Biden/Pelosi/Schumer welfare state.
And besides rich people hire lawyers and accountants.

It is the middle income saps the Socialists are after.

I see the first legislative priority for House Repos is to defund the police.

Then who ya gonna call when the bad people are invading your home?
...and who ya gonna call when protesters are gathering and are intent on invading the Capitol again?

The invasion of the Congress building in Brazil could've been stopped...but the govt/cops were *asleep*, not prepared for such an event.
No plan.

Poor security, you get turned into a victim.

Defund the police?
A very bad idea.

Defund the Police is so yesterday!

Republicans want to Defund the FBI

Why?
They must have a reason.
Has the FBI become bloated, ... duplications, inefficient?

Never thought of the IRS as the Police, but after being weaponized and funded for 87,000 new agents to snoop on middle aged 1040 s by Pelosi and Company I guess it makes sense that it is.

Weaponized?  They're packing heat?

So enforcing the law to have people pay what they actually owe in taxes... that's not law enforcement?

Thank goodness we have a noted legal scholar here to clear this up!
LOL!

The IRS-CI(Civil Investigation)is the sixth-largest law enforcement agency in the US. There are about 3,000 employees in CI about 70% of whom are special agents, and they carry firearms.
But even without guns the existing IRS agents have targeted political opponents under Democrat presidents.

Imagine 87,000 new ones digging into the files of ordinary Americans.
I do not know how you can sleep at night if that happens.

Very upsetting to shady customers hoping to avoid getting served.

News Item

Half of the likely voters in the United States said they disapprove of the Democratled $1.7 trillion, 4,155-page omnibus spending bill that was rammed through Congress last month to fund the government. At the same time, most agree it is a disaster for America.

Go to Rasmussen and look at their wording.  In polling, leading questions about taxation with "trillion" in them generally get the answer desired.  And note the first of three questions asks the polling world's most predictable outrage generator: is the national debt bad?  With that context installed, it's easy to get negative responses on following questions about large spending bills.  Especially ones that add rather unscientific and imprecise terms like "monstrosity" and "disaster for our country."  Yes, I went to their page with the actual questions and format.

Push poll, if you prefer monosyllables.

Worth keeping in mind that "government is the problem" Reagan ran up the debt faster than any other president, but kept his GOP sheeple content with fabricated tales and folksy platitudes of utter vacuity.

Democratled

I appreciate the attempt to create a new adjective.  May I also suggest Republicanted?

You really deserve the dunce cap for rewriting the history of the Eighties.
Reagan was able to get a democrat Congress to cut taxes and increase defense spending.
The economy took off and ignited one of the longest and strongest periods of economic growth in US history
(real growth grew by $2TRILLION ,a third higher than the previous 8 years)
The Soviet Union collapsed at the end of the decade unable to match the US in the arms race.
This in turn produced a Peace Dividend that contributed to economic growth lasting through the Clinton Years.
