BTW, it's worth noting that the House bill is primarily directed towards Chinese disinvestment and not banning TikTok.  The ban is intended as an enforcement stick.  Having China not invested in information gathering platforms in the US is not really a new thing. 

If this did result in a ban, well, attention spans are plummeting, along with the capacity for abstract thought and unguided reflection on things, so any diminution of such platforms could benefit young American brains.  (SEE ALSO: Atlantic article posted in other news thread)  Who knows, people could someday return to reading actual books, studying history, engaging with their local culture, living in a world that's not some addictive fantasy created by software and social media companies to tweak our dopamine levels every 30 fucking seconds.
