and demonstrating that either you did not read the article or you cannot be bothered to have honesty about what you read.

I can see leaving the competition.   It's one thing to have heckling spectators,  that's shrug off-able,  but to have bias among the judges that damages fair competition is a compelling reason to seek a more level playing field elsewhere.  If big debate program schools like Vanderbilt are joining a boycott this might get fixed.

It's a competition, like a game between sports teams.

BUT...

it should be handled like English football, I agree.  There should be emphasis put on the perpetrators.  And clear sanctions.

I think staying in the competition - and bringing their case vs the bad actors - would have been wiser - and more sporting.

Reeks of bad loserism to quit after thinking you were not awarded proper points, the bad actions of opponents aside. 

But I do credit the coach - for he had a a tough decision - and a clearly distraught team member.

Is that why other HBCUs like Clemson and Vanderbilt also withdrew from the competition <sarcasm>

Public radio station WITF (and how much do I love those call letters) has decided maybe not to forget who attacked democracy.

These elected officials, WITF reminded its audience, either knowingly spread disinformation or flat-out lied in an effort to keep Trump in office.

“This was an unprecedented assault on the fabric of American democracy,” the statement said.

The station has stuck to its pledge in its day-to-day coverage ever since, by simply and without fanfare including boilerplate language about how lawmakers conducted themselves during the attempts to overturn the election whenever they are mentioned in the course of regular news coverage....
