Kill the filibuster and you win ALL the fights right the fuck now.

Once poor red state voters get what they NEED it will help get them past their racial resentment and fear.

But as per usual “Moderate” Democrats are out of fucking touch and  pissing away power gained through tremendous effort to overcome GOP suppression and messaging about socialism and a lawless nation.

Diane Feinstein doesn’t think our Democracy is in danger so she is against killing the filibuster. One thing is for sure, if this version of the GOP regains Power the filibuster is a memory.

The opportunity to transform society for the better doesn’t come around every cycle.

Strike while the iron is hot. The GOP will agree to NOTHING that will actually make advances.

So what is Manchin trying to prove by insisting Republicans must get on board? Is he stupid?

No, he is owned lock stock and barrel by the ALEC consortium.

The obvious problem here is that if your entire narrative of America is a cynical history of exploitation and decline, you can’t inspire. If the past is just a litany of American failures and mistakes, there’s nothing to aspire to. And if you have universities and public schools that are teaching this cynical history, you’re betting against your own future.

(...)

Yes. The left needs to STFU, and centrist Dems need to tell them just that, and why. So kudos for the Speaker calling out Omar.

The entire narrative of Christianity is based on a political murder,  and its symbol is a depiction of the crime scene.   The narrative is about having a man's sacrifice have meaning, so that we treat each other better.

It's a strawman argument that bad events and mistakes can't inspire people to make a better world.

As for telling the Left to STFU.....there you go again,  embracing cancel culture.

I think both the Banks and Larry approach would work if we were looking toward an election in 2022. Politically the republicans are fucked because they shit so steadily on their constituents and kowtow to monsters.

I don’t think we’re looking toward an election though. I think we’re looking at a hostile takeover by any and every available means. Unless the forces against America on the right are degraded to the point of irrelevance, voter sentiment will have very little to do with who holds power in 2022 & 2024. Now is the time to end the emerging civil war. That means getting the anti-democratic ethnostate folk to unconditionally surrender.

Exactly.

The electoral process MUST BE PROTECTED NOW.

In doing so the tools to pass Biden’s BIG ASS POLICIES will be available with ONLY Moderate Democrats standing in the way.

Good policies drive good politics and politics is the art of the possible.

Having a Congressional majority AND the executive make almost every thing possible so why play half assed?

Haven’t Moderate Democrats learned ANYTHING from 2009 - 2010?

“IMO if not for Trump' massive covid fuck-ups, and growing Pinochio-nose...”

What and where inTrump’s political or business career has demonstrated he is capable of anything other than the way he handled Covid?

He knew in February was coming.

He knew in April when he started hollering “Liberate Michigan.”

He was aready 20000 lies deep BEFORE Covid.

the BIGGEST LIE was after he lost the election.

“But his hard-to-take-back vow to save the filibuster means the Democrats won’t pass voting rights bills, which could allow Republicans to use suppression to regain Congress in 2022 and ensure that any new New Deal that helps West Virginians will be very short-lived. It’s hard to believe, but if the Biden agenda mostly fails because of Manchin’s weird worship of the filibuster and his bipartisanship delusions, he will harm more Americans than the Red-baiting of Sen. Joseph McCarthy. For now, all West Virginia can do is wait”

"It's the left's fault for not being moderate enough! We can't support them!"

"It's the moderate's fault for not being progressive enough! We can't support them!"

Manchin is full of crap because the bipartisan cover is already there from the House and McConnell's personal favor request should have told him and all of the GOP that.

Sinema is just full of crap.

Biden's already come down BIG from his initial Infrastructure plan, but I suspect whatever eventually gets agreed to will be called HUGE!!!

And Rs will claim credit for rebuilding highways, bridges and tunnels in red states.

But turning democracy into rubble.

I don't feel like searching and pulling but In June 2020 I proposed a limited to do list for Joe to do: Beat covid, get America back to school and work, pass an infrastructure plan to goose the economy and put food on the table, pay the rent. Things most Americans could easily support. And then work on voting rights.

Then intro some EPA/Green initiatives so we don't continue pollute ourselves to oblivion. And most Americans would support that agenda and he'd have a fighting chance to hold Congress in '22.

its kind of playing out as I imagined.

Everybody wanted the covid relief, and most want an infrastructure, depending upon the definitions.

Repubs want and need voter suppression, Dems don't.

So a Voting Rights bill might be tricky to get done.

So I think Joe should ratchet up a plan to double or triple legal hiring at DoJ.

Quote
WASHINGTON – The Justice Department will beef up its civil rights unit as part of an aggressive effort to fight policies and legislation that restrict voter access and discriminate against marginalized voters, Attorney General Merrick Garland announced Friday.

"To meet the challenge of the current moment, we must re-dedicate the resources of the Department of Justice to a critical part of its original mission: enforcing federal law to protect the franchise for all eligible voters," Garland said, noting a recent wave of legislation in several states that restrict voter access.

Garland said within the next 30 days, the department will double the enforcement staff of the civil rights unit, a powerful division within the agency that investigates hate crimes, police abuses and other civil rights violations.

Actually Manchin is doing the dems a favor.

Killing the Filibuter is a suicide pill for the dems in 22.
And add a one party take-over of elections doubles down on the party’s stupidity.

News Item-NBC

Wisconsin federal judge ordered a temporary halt to a $4 billion race-based federal relief program for farmers

A Wisconsin federal judge ordered a temporary halt to a $4 billion race-based federal relief program for farmers on Thursday.
A group of White farmers had filed a lawsuit arguing the policy discriminates against them.

Milwaukee District Judge William Griesbach issued a temporary restraining order, noting the White farmers "are likely to succeed on the merits of their claim" that the U.S. Department of Agriculture’s (USDA)
"use of race-based criteria in the administration of the program violates their right to equal protection under the law…The obvious response to a government agency that claims it continues to discriminate against farmers because of their race or national origin is to direct it to stop: it is not to direct it to intentionally discriminate against others on the basis of their race and national origin,….

As Chief Justice John Roberts said so many years ago
the way  to end discrimination is to stop discriminating

DUH!
