I can't create a poll but am curious about the general political profile of those 12 or so people posting in Elba

and how you would ID yourself by party affiliation and ideology

So if you could, if comfortable, please ID yourself as one of the following

Dems or Repub

A-very conservative

B-conservative

C-moderate

D-Liberal

E-very liberal/progressive

For example I would self-ID as Dem-Liberal

and Utley you and the gang only get 1 ID

Independent. Moderate.  And apparently the only one with the stones to answer your question. The rest are too busy playing not making mistakes.

A bit of electoral history from West Virginia.

1996: Bill Clinton carries the state over Bob Dole by 15 points
democrat Jay Rockefeller gets 77% of the vote in the Senate race
All three US House Seats are Blue

In 2020: Trump won in West Virginia by almost 40 percentage points.
Republican Sen. Shelley Moore Capito won her re-election by an even bigger margin.
The GOP carried all three of the state’s House seats.

Joe Manchin is bucking the progressive dream of partisanship first today in Washington, opposing the end of the filibuster and a federal takeover of national elections.
The bitter criticism of him is out of line.
He barely won in 2018 as a democrat.
Had West Virginia voters, trending red for 20 years, voted otherwise the GOP would rule the Senate today.
Just today McConnell has indicated that if the Repos retake the Senate he will likely embargo ANY judicial nomination from the Biden administration. That is who Manchin seeks bipartisanship with. He is a sucker and repos are laughing up their sleeves at him. The Repos value bipartisanship below a bucket of spit.

Manchin is owned by the GOP donor class.

Fucking Moderate Democrats are just Republican lite.
I think Manchin is seeking Peace In Our Time. Which will fail for exactly the same reason.
I was right. democrats are total idiots about principals.
Well, ElHi administration is not my area of specialization, sure.

Federal judge accuses three senior law enforcement officials of criminal obstruction

Wow!

There is so much more to this - active deceit on the part of the US Marshall's Service, for example.

Quote
A federal judge leveled criminal contempt charges Monday against senior federal law enforcement officials in a long-simmering standoff in South Dakota over the judge’s insistence that he needs to know whether deputies guarding his courtroom have been vaccinated against the coronavirus.

U.S. District Judge Charles Kornmann, who sits in Aberdeen, tore into the U.S. Marshals Service for nearly an hour over their reaction to his decision at a hearing last month to question the deputy marshal in attendance about whether she had been vaccinated.

The deputy marshal, according to the judge, refused to answer the question, at which point he ordered her out of his courtroom. The marshals, in turn, took three of the defendants scheduled for hearings that day out of the courthouse. That infuriated the judge, who describes that act as a “kidnapping” that obstructed the work of the court.

Lin-Manuel Miranda is asking for some paciencia y fe, saying in a note posted to social media on Monday that he will do better representing Afro-Latinos in his future projects.

Miranda's statements come days after "In The Heights," a musical about a vibrant and diverse Latinx community in New York City, was released in theaters. The film has been criticized for featuring dark-skinned Afro-Latinos in background and dance scenes but not in main roles.

"In trying to paint a mosaic of this community, we fell short," he said. "I'm truly sorry."

Actress and singer Leslie Grace, who plays Nina Rosario in the film, is Afro-Latino. In an interview with The Root's Felice León, which reignited the discussion about Latinx colorism this weekend, Grace diplomatically handled her response to the criticism saying, "I hope that this is cracking that glass ceiling because I do hope to see my brothers and sisters that are darker than me lead these movies."

Wokenomics.

I was right. democrats are total idiots about principals.
If you want to call people idiots it’s probably best you demonstrate you know the difference between principals and principles. Especially if you view yourself as a teacher.
I do.
I’m guessing nouns and adjectives confuse you.
Thanks for playing.
Wait.  "[D]emocrats are total idiots about principals?"  I'd like to participate in the bonus round. What "principals" are you talking about?
These words both come from Latin, and have similar histories. Each may function as a noun, but only principal also functions as an adjective. Principal, as an adjective, most often means “most important, consequential, or influential” (as in “the principal ingredient of the dish is, unfortunately, anchovies”).
I am not surprised you are so ignorant of our language.
Wow. Thanks for the “lesson.” So you were using “principal” as an adjective? Just out of curiosity, what’s the noun that it was modifying in that sentence?: “Democrats are total idiots about principals.”  Teach me!!!
Already did.
But thanks for asking.

The looming summit between U.S. President Joe Biden and Russian President Vladimir Putin—set to take place in Geneva on Wednesday—has unleashed a flurry of threats from the Kremlin’s propaganda machine, and a promise of staunch resistance to American demands on everything from cyber attacks to human rights abuses.

It has also triggered another bizarre press strategy: The debut and glorification of an infamous Capitol rioter on Russian airwaves.

On Sunday, Russian state TV aired an interview with insurrectionist Richard Barnett—notoriously pictured with his feet up on a desk in Nancy Pelosi’s office on Jan. 6—and his attorney, Joseph McBride.

Barnett, a self-proclaimed white nationalist, was introduced as a “colorful” individual, the same expression Putin frequently uses to describe Trump. McBride welcomed Rossiya-1 special correspondent Valentin Bogdanov into his office and FaceTimed his client, who appeared cheerful and at ease at his Arkansas ranch, flashing a big smile and showing off his car collection.

‘It’s Not Fair!’: Rioter Who Posed in Pelosi’s Office Loses It in Court

Bogdanov introduced Barnett, who was arrested following the Capitol raid and subsequently released pending trial, as “an American patriot” who protested against “the stolen election.” The network showcased clips from his exploits at the Capitol, where he wielded a stun-gun, stole mail from Pelosi’s office, and left a threatening note for the House Speaker.

Seemingly unaware of Russia’s notorious prison system, Barnett complained about the conditions of his brief imprisonment, alleged beatings of other “patriots” with whom he was detained, and threats he had received since his arrest.

Barnett is is true traitor.
