If anyone's ever in Oregon and needs a shibboleth to fit in,  pm me.   I can tell you a couple good ones - one was what they called the state capitol, the other how they pronounce the valley.

Unless Senators want to define  ALL political Speech as criminal or impeachable there is no valid reason to convict Trump of anything in this sham impeachment trial..

Biden wants to restrict travel to Florida?
Probably insures Florida will be solid red forever and
DeSantis or Rubio becomes President some day.
Surely Biden is in over his head.

Red seems to believe ALL political speech ends in insurrection, an attack of the Capitol, the attempted overthrow of a legally elected government, the death of several people; all after months of Trump's ginning up the most suspectible. morally weak, and delusional of his base that only a grand theft could cause him to lose. and when he lost he called them to the capitol to make him whole and restore him to the throne

My experience it that Red's premise regarding political speech is false.

Its not my fault Trump's army of conspiracy-driven Q-deplorables was inadequately armed.

they may have believed the military would soon join them in their treason.

Kid seems to think the sacking of the capitol and the attempted coup will soon be forgotten and is no big deal.

We disagree.

Probably.

Unlike the Dems who revile what Cuomo has now been shown to have done, the GOP admires DeSantis for having done the same thing, in spades.

Who said they were defining anything new?   Constitutional law already defines incitement to imminent lawless action.   Here it is:

  The Incitement Test (Brandenburg)
"The constitutional guarantees of free speech and free press do not permit a State to forbid or proscribe advocacy of the use of force or of law violation except where such advocacy is directed to inciting or producing imminent lawless action and is likely to incite or produce such action.

Have a nice evening,  scholar.

Why would mere saying make it true?  No one's talking about "all speech, " just the speech that urges imminent lawless action.   Try to keep up.   And study our laws before opening your piehole.

Also look at Rice v Palladin.   Exceptions to the Brandenburg test of imminent have been established by precedent.

MICHAEL VAN DER VEEN: The fictoral speech needs to stop. You need to stop. There was nothing fun here, Mr. Raskin. We aren't having fun here. This is about the most miserable experience I've had down here in Washington DC. There's nothing fun about it.

JAMIE RASKIN: And you know, my counsel said before this has been my worst experience in Washington. And for that, I guess we're sorry. But man, you should have been here on January 6th.
