Eight kinds of a pie fight. Probably not best to have an institution or journal labeled after one individual, because now more than ever that will carry the weight of their whole history. I have a friend who teaches at that school, though nowhere near the music history department fortunately.

Trump will always lose a popular vote.  Please run him again in 2024.

One can lose the popular vote but still become President.

Invariably they wind up the shittiest of presidents, ones more pissed on by history than admired, ones with a record of wrecks rather than accomplishments.

W did not win the popular vote.
He had to do all the hard work after 9/11 ...then Obama the Popular rode in and took over.

W was among the shittiest of presidents, more pissed on by history than admired, with a record of wrecks rather than accomplishments.

Case in point, amplified by the next popular vote loser and illegitimate president, dirty diaper trump.

Listless useless wastes is all the republicans offer and they are never popular with voters though they are not above stealing elections and misusing any power they manage to misappropriate to harm the country.

It’s been the consistent pattern from the fascist right wing without break or letup since Nixon at least.

I thought both McCain and Romney were reasonable candidates. Ditto Bob Dole.

But it's true, what you say about the popular vote. Once in the last 8 presidential elections is not very good at all!

Dems would rule if they could avoid liberal elite lost causes such as amnesty, open borders, over restrictive conservatism and ignoring the veteran.

Reasonable for Republicans, maybe ...
Social moderates -- which is part of why they lost -- not able to rev up the nutty GOP base enough.  Though McCain tried with Palin.

Romney was Mr. Ultra-Capitalist.  Making tens of millions by putting folks out of work.  He couldn't fake the rich man populism the way Trump could/did.

McCain was a warmonger, had shaky judgement, and promoted the ascendancy of the kooky far right with the Palin pick.

In many ways Palin with her lack of knowledge, loyal base, combat with the media, etc. was a forerunner of Trump.

Democrats want to GOVERN.

Republican want to RULE.

Big Difference.

lee, everything Trump took credit for when it comes to veterans was started in the Obama Administration.

What you call "liberal lost causes" are actually popular in the places people outnumber cattle.

Still can't explain your "liberal elite" bullshit.

And still haven't responded to the posts on your "most diverse country" claim.

Now you've added "over restrictive conservatism," by which I think you mean "overly restrictive conservation laws," but I'm not sure.

So, while you aren't explaining the other two, can you explain that one? Try not to choke on your polluted air or water while you do it. And pay no attention to the ongoing climate crisis, either.

Bank missed the part where just by going through with impeaching, not even convicting Trump the Democrats now need to face a Harris impeachment, if not others down the line.

Cooler heads will likely prevail - but rest assured there will be discussion - and a need/ask for public explanation by the VP, minimally.
Just what, precisely, do you think Harris would be impeached for?

Did you mother drop you on your head in a drunken stupor when you were 6 months old? Obama took office during two wars and what was at the time the worst economic collapse since the Great Depression.

This is... interesting.

https://www.nytimes.com/2021/02/14/arts/musicology-journal-race-free-speech.html

In this case,  I side with the free speech argument.   If Jackson is right,  or if he is full of shit,  let him duke it out with other academics.   Free discourse is so very vital to intellectual life that it must not be corseted with any ideological straps no matter how noble.

Thanks,  that WAS interesting.
