Today's expected orgiastic final airing of grievances at CPAC holds for me a combination of fascination and fear and wonder what spawn of the devil Trump hopes to create.

Krug Man:
Quote
An unintended consequence of the Big Lie about the election may be that it undercuts Republican opposition to Democratic policy priorities. The right-wing media complex, vast as it is, has to deal with its viewers’ and listeners’ limited attention spans. Every hour spent promulgating conspiracy theories about election fraud and false-flag Antifa operations is an hour not spent frightening audiences about the imminent death of the dollar at the hands of Democratic big spenders.

Having the right engage with pointless distractions is better than engaging and undermining actual policy.  Somewhat akin to my appreciation of Trump's numerous dopey distractions that kept him from enacting bad policies.

Good point,  though I fear the price of distracting Repubs into fuzzy beds of conspiracy onanism is that they are then even more easily captured and led by some future fascist who promises to be a strong protector.   Stupid people can smarten up,  but if they are kept in abject stupidity they morph into dangerous mobs.

It isn't a matter of stupidity it is a matter fo fear and resentment.

Digression, but... is Lady Gaga a complete fucking moron?   "Thanks for hiring a proxy to return the dogs you stole while shooting my dog walker,  and here's a half million dollars to the proxy who "found" my dogs... "   Does she realize the can of worms she opens with that utterly idiotic reward?   OK,  maybe possibly the woman who claims to have found the dogs is really just an honest citizen,  but how likely do you think that is when the dognappers knew there was a reward of that size?   Criminals network.   They find mules who are clean, no rapsheet,  to haul their water for them.

I would pay the reward to get my dog /dogs back.

"The bad people lurk in the shadows, waiting to pounce...the moment you get security careless" - bambu

They'll kidnap you, your pets, your children...given half a chance.
They're very scary people, just like the US doco states.

Read my follow-up post which clarifies what might be the drawback to that high reward figure...

Nope.   You and Uno both mistook my point.   She could offer $20,000, which is about double the black market value of two French bulldogs,  and get them back.   Offer half a million, and it opens up a potential crime wave of people stealing then "finding" celebrity pets.   If one celeb offers a reward that huge,  others will emulate.   It doesn't take "Dick Tracy" to connect those dots.   I'll leave it for now,  since it's pretty off-topic here.

The pets were already worth stealing, if you know that marketplace.

But if you wish to equate this with the Lindbergh baby's "kidnapping", by all means...

Or it's just an efficient stage design ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

LoL.

About as subtle a signal as a kick from a mule.   What are the odds the CPAC people will apologize for this?   These people love to flirt and flash their knickers at neo-Nazis and then insist it was nothing.

It's unnecessary.  They're in no danger of losing the neo-nazi voter.  They don't have to court them.
If this was a conscious decision its likely to turn off more voters than it turns on.

If this was intentional it's strategically stupid.
Especially since Neo- Nazis, white supremacists, racists, etc account for less than 1 per cent of voters.

But about 70% of the GOP.

I think you both have a point.

Perhaps, though, Dickens said it best.

Scrooge started back, appalled. Having them shown to him in this way, he tried to say they were fine children, but the words choked themselves, rather than be parties to a lie of such enormous magnitude.

"Spirit! are they yours?" Scrooge could say no more.

"They are Man's," said the Spirit, looking down upon them. "And they cling to me, appealing from their fathers. This boy is Ignorance. This girl is Want. Beware of them both, and all of their degree, but most of all beware this boy, for on his brow I see that written which is Doom, unless the writing be erased. Deny it!" cried the Spirit, stretching out its hand towards the city. "Slander those who tell it ye! Admit it for your factious purposes, and make it worse! And bide the end!"

"Have they no refuge or resource?" cried Scrooge.

"Are there no prisons?" said the Spirit, turning on him for the last time with his own words. "Are there no workhouses?"

Shocking.
How did it work out in New York when its government made the decisions for seniors?

Here's the key to Kristi:  she's so libertarian that she elevates that form of freedom above all other social goods.   She feels the people are with her on this,  so it's sort of a "consenting adults" situation politically speaking.  For those who don't consent,  however...
