"What we did was allow people to make decisions for themselves"

Here's the key to Kristi:  she's so libertarian that she elevates that form of freedom above all other social goods.   She feels the people are with her on this,  so it's sort of a "consenting adults" situation politically speaking.  For those who don't consent,  however...
However what?

Cuomo to be done in by the law he put in place?

New York Gov. Andrew Cuomo (D) has been accused of sexual harassment by a second former aide. Charlotte Bennett, who worked as a senior briefer and executive assistant in Cuomo's administration in 2019 and 2020, told The New York Times that Cuomo harassed her in June 2020, asking her questions about her personal life, including whether she thought age gaps mattered in relationships and if she ever had sex with with older men. The 25-year-old Bennett said the governor never tried to touch her, but she "absolutely" felt he was making an entreaty to a sexual relationship, which made her "horribly uncomfortable and scared."

From the NY pamphlet (bold and underlined font are mine):

Is a single incident of inappropriate sexual
behavior enough to be sexual harassment
and can I file a complaint?

Yes. Harassment does not need to be
repeated for you to file a claim; a single
incident can be sufficient. Harassment also
does not need to be severe or pervasive in
order for the employer to be liable. Contact
the
New York State Division of Human Rights to
file a complaint.

NY Law seems unusually harsh. A single incident can have many meanings to all involved, and there's a 3 year statute of limitations.

So, you could possibly say only, "That's a pretty blouse on you, today?" And 3 years later end up in court.

That's hardly Harvey Weinstein behavior, and seems to be an overcorrection.

Shocking.
How did it work out in New York when its government made the decisions for seniors?
See?

Actually South Dakota, Texas, and Florida bucked the lockdown frenzy.  Covid Numbers may have gone up slightly more than in a lockdown state  but their economies came through much better. Residents that could not afford six weeks at home kept their jobs since their employers stayed in business and public school kids have many more chances of being in school.

The economy is doing great in Texas, on earth two.

I was told that CPAC is the thing some folks shove up their penis so they won’t have to interrupt their faux news binge for inconvenient bathroom breaks.

From what I heard, Ted Nugent's going to close the festival today with his renditions of the Star Spangled Banner and Deutschland Uber Alles.

Good point,  though I fear the price of distracting Repubs into fuzzy beds of conspiracy onanism is that they are then even more easily captured and led by some future fascist who promises to be a strong protector.   Stupid people can smarten up,  but if they are kept in abject stupidity they morph into dangerous mobs.

It isn't a matter of stupidity it is a matter fo fear and resentment.

I maintain that xenophobic fear derives often from stupidity,  or at least a clueless lack.

https://www.politico.com/news/magazine/2021/01/30/heres-what-happens-to-a-conspiracy-driven-party-463944

This is a very good piece that contains some lessons for the GOP to consider:

In their policy goals, the Know Nothings were in part a reformist party representing working Americans against the elite; they ended up passing a variety of laws about working conditions that presaged the union and labor movements after the Civil War. But the movement was founded, and grew, purely on the strength of anger and resentment. And only because of instability in the political system — the collapse of the Whigs and the widening divisions between northern and southern Democrats — was there an opening for them in the first place.

Sound familiar?
