Bell notes that, following the Six-Day War in 1967 in which Israel terminated the Jordanian occupation, the Knesset passed a law that allowed any person of any ethnicity to have his or her property rights vindicated. Where the Jordanian Custodian of Enemy Property had granted title to sequestered properties, their property rights remained intact; where the Jordanian Custodian had held on to the sequestered properties, they were returned to the owners via the Israeli Administrator General and Official Receiver.

The land in question here was sequestered land that eventually was returned to its lawful Jewish owners following an end to Jordanian occupation. Ironically, as pointed out by Bell, had the Jordanians granted title of the land to Palestinian Arabs (rather than sequestering it), the Israelis would have respected the title.

Thus, in an ironic twist, “The reason the holdover tenants in Sheikh Jarrah lack ownership today is not because the state of Israel has denied the Palestinian Arabs any rights they acquired, but, rather, because the government of Jordan declined to give the Palestinian Arabs title to the land Jordan had seized.”

Given that the land in question belongs to Israeli Jews, it is utterly remarkable that those advocating a halt to the evictions do so on the basis that Jewish property rights ought not to be recognized. Where have we heard this familiar trope before?

Hamas is designated a terrorist group by Israel, the US, EU, and UK, as well as other powers.

Under its charter, the group is committed to the destruction of Israel.

All you need to know.

Any defense of Hamas is defense of terrorism, and supports the destruction of Israel.

We know where the moron-fac and the proven anti-Semite Larry's sympathies lie.

That is part of their "legacy".

And if all the Israelis were killing were Hamas agents/soldiers, that would be fine.

But it is not Hamas that is "reaping," it is children, among other non-combatants.

Nor is Netanyahu's threatening suggestive of restraint or considered response.

Hamas is responsible. They have killed the children.

This is what happens when you fire rockets indiscriminately from locations that contain your own citizens, including children.

YOU should know better, but you'd rather not be seen as out of step with the leftists here.

Your efforts to pigeonhole me continue to be misaimed and misguided.

Your inability to recognize that Hamas is not the only responsible party remains consistent with your broad spread laser like focus on small aspects without regard for larger principles.

Just as those promoting the Palestinians often ignore that as a "people" they have demonstrated complete disregard for whose land they were taking so long as they got somebody's, you ignore that Israel, in their iron grip of the Gaza Strip's supply chain, have bred the resentment against them and continue to exacerbate the problem rather than addressing the created inequities.

Really?

Meanwhile you’re a fanboy of Yigal Amir.

You actually hate Israel or you wouldn’t be cheering it’s self-immolation.

This sounds like a continuation of the same seditious conspiracy to me.

Yay!   You've found one neighborhood in east Jerusalem that fits your narrative, if you massage it lots and pretend it represents all the dispossessions of Palestinians that have happened in the past decades!   Activate the bubble force field and keep all other facts away!
