We all know that wages have been too low for the average worker, and we had workers who were living in their cars because they could not find a place to live that they could afford. We need to get the wages up so that the workers can afford homes, etc.

One way to help is to publicize the benefits of paying your workers a fair wage.

You can have Harvard students do research, and they can find that workers who are paid fair are happier, they are healthier, they are better with customers and help the business more, they are more loyal to the company, etc, etc, etc, and then you share the findings of the research with the world. The world is always interested in the findings of research done by Harvard students.

So, you lead the horses to water and you hope they drink.

You tell the world all of the benefits of paying workers a fair wage, and you hope the world listens and starts paying people fair so that they can afford homes, etc.

We also need to reward training and education and experience with higher pay.

And we can have prevailing wage lists, and union wage scales, etc.

As we rebuild our economy, we need to get the workers into nice housing, etc.

If you are honest, and if you work hard, you need to be paid fair and you need to be able to afford a home.

Salute,

Tony V.

Update on ‘ Neanderthal Thinking’ in Texas.

Texas reported zero deaths from COVID-19 on Sunday, just two months after Gov. Greg Abbott drew heat from the White House for rolling back business restrictions and lifting the state's mask mandate

It marked the first time the Lone Star State reported no coronavirus deaths in about 14 months, according to state health data. Abbott said the case numbers reported on Sunday – 388 – were the lowest in more than 13 months, while the number of hospitalizations was the lowest in 11 months.

I guess ‘ science’ in Texas is way ahead of Washington.

Confirmation of daily totals tends to lag on Sundays,  due to less staffing of county health departments.  The trend,  over a week or two,  will be meaningful.   A single day not so much.   Increased numbers vaccinated is helping numbers of cases drop,  as CDC and pretty much everyone in medicine predicted.   Political posturing in Texas is irrelevant to the actual science.

Posturing?
Those were facts, not opinions.
Not to mention two MONTHS of records after rolling back restrictions and the mask mandate.

It was inevitable.
Congress, led by democrats, calling for a cease fire in the MidEast.

What did they expect was going to happen once Biden reversed the US course of the last four years and tried to cozy back up with Iran and revive  the Obama nuclear treaty?
Sending $250 million to the genocidal maniacs known as Hamas quickly was spent on 2500 Iranian rockets and/or parts and Hamas  promptly resumed attacking Israelis.
Israel with IRON DOME defenses retaliated, quite forcefully and effectively.
Biden has been forced to defend Israel while Bernie, Pocahontas, and The Squad side with the Palestinians.
Biden incompetence is out of control.

China Lake helped to invent the technology for Iron Dome.

China Lake has been working on missile defense for a long time, and technology is always improving.

How many hearings did the GOP-controlled Senate hold?!

And yet... they cannot bring themselves to admit that this is needed.

It would be incredible, were it not so predictable.

The posturing was in Abbott taking credit for the drop.   No one disputes the decline in cases.   But the decline happened in spite of,  not because of,  his early termination of the mask mandate and business restrictions.   Your fallacy is the ever popular post hoc ergo propter hoc.

Again,Abbott  cited facts.  Any ‘ posturing’ came from Biden criticizing Abbott ‘s decision process.

ROFL!
The resulting decline in Covid cases and deaths in Texas underscore the ‘ science ‘ Abbott and his government clearly relied on.
Why do you deny it?

Many people wondered  that at a time, (early March 2021) when vaccines were being rolled out nationally, and we seemed to be turning the corner on covid, with cases starting to decline, why Texas couldn't have have applied an ounce of prevention, and waited another 2-4 weeks, for more vaccines to be given, and more people protected. There was still concerns that mutating covid viruses would spread and infect the unprotected.

It seemed Abbott was denying science and putting more faith in faith.

You seem not to understand what post hoc ergo propter hoc is,  scholar.   The "resulting"
in your first sentence reveals your lack of comprehension.

Members of Congress and all government employees are employed by the taxpayers of this country. Holding the government accountable to the people is what I’ve always believed in.

Not very long ago CNN’s KFile unearthed a since deleted video showing Congressman Marjorie Taylor Greene and some aides stalking Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, and yelling abuse at her through the mail slot of her Capitol office. Marjorie Taylor Greene responded to CNN KFile's posting of that video with the comment above.

https://www.vanityfair.com/news/2021/05/marjorie-taylor-greene-aoc-video

Unluckily for Marjorie Taylor Greene, another reporter called Justin Gray who works for WSB TV in Atlanta Georgia did some investigative reporting into recent Homestead Exemption tax filings by Taylor Greene and her husband for 2020.

https://www.newsweek.com/marjorie-taylor-greene-allegedly-violated-georgia-tax-law-claiming-two-permanent-residences-1591787

By way of explanation, Georgia is one of a number of US states where you may claim a significant tax deduction called a ‘Homestead Exemption’ in respect of a property that is your permanent residence. The catch is that you can only do this on one specific property. Marjorie Taylor Greene and her husband have apparently been caught doing it with two, and that is a form of criminal tax fraud.

Greene was apparently not best pleased at being busted for what she claims is a “paperwork issue”, and she sent this response to WSB...

“Justin Gray should mind his own business instead of launching yet another pathetic attempt to smear me and my family.”

“Looking out for the interests of taxpayers”, and holding Congressmen “accountable to the people” is suddenly not such a priority for her after all it seems.
