Btw, glorifying the military and uncritically calling armed soldiers heroes is most definitely part of the problem.

I may be wrong but I'm not aware anyone here made the endorsements Bo is trying to eradicate with his hyperbole.
On Memorial Day we remember and thank those armed service members who sacrificed for this country.
That doesn't seem like a lot to me.
But glorifying violent solutions in a gun-crazy society is problematic when applied widely (ie you shouldn't shoot the waitress for slow service) .
If the US only had the firmly entrenched and widely respected tradition of dissent, and anti-war protest, (in the streets, public forums, editorially, politically, or in the arts) that Russia or China did!
