America has a two party system and can only function well when both sides are committed to governing. Right now one only one party is interested in governing while the other is poised to strike down our democratic principles in an effort to install a white nationalist autocracy,

In order to save our democratic republic the GOP must be saved, however in order to save the party it first has to be destroyed (there is a certain amount of Vietnam era irony) it must be burned to the ground and it’s ashes sown into the earth with salt like Carthage as it goes the way of the Whigs and Know Nothings.

That may be paradoxical but there used to be Republicans who were patriots but succumbed to the leadership of the racists and nihilists who took control of the party post Goldwater.

No reason it needs to be the republicans as one of the parties. We do fine without the Whigs who played an essential role in their day. We will do much better without republican influence at all or we will perish as a nation.

If we squash the insurrection of racist fascists, the Greens or Socialists or anti-Gun party will step up to provide balance to the mainstream centrist Democrats in guiding the USA and mainting the beacon of democracy we can be in our best moments.

You know, I'm a peaceful man but if I spent the last 54 years living as a subjugated person in my homeland with no political say in my fate, no ability to peacefully change my situation, with a subjugator backed by a strong military and police presence that has traditionally not respected my people and culture, and which has expressed the intention to keep my homeland as its own forever and people it with its citizens, rhetoric about driving them into the sea might well resonate with me way more than it does at this distance. There is a reason the two state solution has been the official US policy. It is in Israel's best interest. It is far easier to negotiate peace between nations than with a subjugated people.

I favor self-determination.

My parents were cremated and visiting them seems the same to me as visiting my father-in-law's grave site.

Your parents were just like mine. When the last breath left them and their souls slipped this mortal coil their bodies were empty husks. My mother is buried in California and my father in Amityville and I am in Washington DC but when I think of them and look to them for wisdom they are right with me.

This is how I feel and cannot speak for you or others. Your personal preference is just that, your preference.

I've been watching You Tube videos of the Nazi concentration/Holocaust camps of WW2.
In my mind Israelis made up their minds a long time ago that nothing like that was ever going to happen to them again.
Who could blame them for adopting the "Look after yourself first in this world, son...because nobody else will" policy?

It's a 'dog eat dog' world everywhere one goes today.
From the schoolyard to the workplace, from the tent to the real estate market, in the neighbourhood, int'l trade, ...people will "cut your throat for sixpence" if you're not prepared to fight.

Mommy dearest died in 1985...aged 69.
Handsome, domineering, bullying, womanising, cheating husband basically ruined her life, she stayed married for us kids.
I visited the little hole in the wall, all my mind could imagine was her squashed into the little hole. I never went there again.

The UN did not form Israel in 1948. I don't know where this came from, but it is not historically accurate.

On November 29, 1947, the General Assembly of the United Nations voted with a 2/3 majority to partition western Palestine into a Jewish and an Arab state.  The Arabs rejected it.  The Mufti of Jerusalem, Haj Amin Al Husseini stated: “I declare a holy war, my Moslem brothers”. “Murder them all!”

Israel proclaimed its own existence on May 14th of 1948. After the war against five Arab nations, the UN recognized Israel. Those nations that had warred against it refused to.
