On the issue of Africans and slavery...
There is a club down the street named "The Juke Joint" and it turns out that the history of the name goes back to the Africans and the slaves. I thought it was named after a Juke Box, but a friend taught me the history.
During slavery there were clubs for the slaves with drinking, gambling, live music, dancing, etc, called Juke Joints. Then, after the slaves got their freedom, the black people continued to go to Juke Joints during Jim Crow, etc.
Link for the Wikipedia page about Juke Joints...
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Juke_jointThe Juke Joint down the street has live bands, and drinking, and pool, but the music is punk, and rockabilly, skate music and surf music, etc, and the people there are all white people, it does not have anything to do with Africans or anything.
https://thejukejointbar.com/I just found it interesting. And people think that it is a punk club, no one has any idea as to the African history of the name of the club.
Salute,
