Leftists like to use language instead of reason to "win". This is why the demonization of Manchin and Sinema is taking place. They can't rationally argue that the country should take on an excessive amount of debt especially when one drills down into the infrastructure bill, so instead they're choosing to deceive the public they say they serve.

So fucked up.

Liberal lawmakers and activists are becoming more unified in their attempt to redefine the language on their terms, hoping that the public will see the outliers as more on the conservative side of the party, rather than in the middle of it.

https://thehill.com/homenews/house/574399-progressive-democrats-seek-to-purge-the-term-moderate

The left hates the police, but they love to police language---it's what they call progress.

Raise enough revenue in the final versions and the bills can actually shrink our debt load while growing our economy and improving our quality of life

American debt comes from from theft by the right not investment by the left

Seeing wankers argue for letting the country rot out from under us from fear of an imaginary debt bomb is like watching a diabetic chase fistfuls of red velvet cake with mighty swigs from a handle of Southern Comfort.

You do not know what is good for you Utley

Until you learn your decline and fall will only accelerate.

People in your situation shouldn't be giving advice.

Skipping over your Left bete-noire, I will point out that no version of the social infrastructure bill calls for deficit spending.  Neither you nor Ward nor Kid has posted one jot of evidence it does because none of you have found any.   Simply returning corporate tax to pretrump levels is revenue neutral so far as the Treasury is concerned.
The bill is ALREADY a love letter to moderates.
What, for example, is the cost of the Child Tax Credit increase and how is it paid for?

Like Voter ID it polls well so who cares?

Education is the answer for the USA, and 2 years of free college is a great start. Then the people who rise to the top need to be given free scholarships so that they can go on to be doctors, etc.

Our neighborhoods need to have more colleges, and fewer prisons. We need more professors and fewer prison guards.

We need to think like the Greeks, and we need to be thinkers, and star gazers, and we need theatre, etc.

And we need to have Wellness Centers, with crisis intervention specialists.

Salute,

Tony V.

At present Americans are spending $100,000 on useless degrees, apparently.
Big waste of time and money.
A good carpenter will never be short of work. Even better if they are a qualified electrician and plumber as well. Worth spending money qualifying for those.
No guaranteed work for them? no worries, a degree in computer skills would see temp work in plenty of fields.

Its going to be interesting to watch Biden and buddies cajole threaten and bribe the various factions in an attempt to hold Team D together.

And the Repubs are laughing their asses off.

If Biden fails, he and a D-House and Senate, can't govern.

If he succeeds, he's a spend and tax Dem condemning future generations to crushing debt.

This was a win to set-up a good '22-24, (take the half-loaf, claim a win, and let Americans feel good about a government doing something for them and making their life better, if not perfect) maybe hold the House, grab a couple of Senate seats, and do more work  etc. This pipe dream now appears to be pissed away by stupid and selfish "what's in it for me Dems, both mods and progressives with no fucking sense of what makes political sense.

They couldn't play it smart.

Fucking morons.

And the pay-off will be Kevin McCarthy as Speaker running bogus hearings for 2 years and Machiavellian Mitch as Sauron plotting the rule of the orcs, led by some fascist poster-boy populist running against an aging Joe if he can hold off the pretenders in waiting.

Never take points off the board is usually a decent rule of thumb.

Maybe Biden can pull this off, but D-party unity is a fucking joke and the Repubs are sharpening their knives and axes, getting ready to carve this country up something fierce.

And laughing their asses off.

---We Now Know Why Biden Was in a Hurry to Exit Afghanistan
He made several missteps, but on the big picture, he was right.---

Got out of that hellhole as quickly as possible.

Good thing John McCain wasn't calling the shots.  He wanted to stay 50 years or longer to prove
our "nation-building" bon a fides.
We need another Grenada to get us back in the W column.  The most likely next foreign intervention is Central America.  Maybe even take back the Panama Canal.
We are the only nation that can solve and fix these troubled lands out there.
You might say it is our "Manifest Destiny"!

Hopefully this "Manifest Destiny" solving and fixing of these troubled lands out there will extend to Oceania.

Oceania

14 countries

1 Australia
2 Papua New Guinea
3 New Zealand
4 Fiji
5 Solomon Islands
6 Micronesia
7 Vanuatu
8 Samoa
9 Kiribati
10 Tonga
11 Marshall Islands
12 Palau
13 Tuvalu
14 Nauru

Most with very small populations...
...in the Subregions of Micronesia, Melanesia, Polynesia
China is circling with its belt and road.

Some people can adapt to changing situations, others can't.

The Dems are a good example, as Banks has well explained.

Here is a simpler version of that reality: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cQHQIhJbeFo

Inflation rose at its highest rate in 40 years in the third quarter.
Economic growth did not come close to predictions
If Biden gets his $3.5 Trillion Welfare State then the dems will be kicked out in 2022.
So there is a glimmer of hope our country can be saved from Socialiam.

I was hoping common sense might prevail. And barring that, that fear that this country, so close to fascism, might provoke the diversity of the dems to pull together for an imperfect political win to consolidate and hold political power for future goals.

I still hold some hope self-preservation might prevail and these morons can deliver the Biden infrastructure bill and call it a win for Americans.

Under [the] Reagan-to-Trump timeline, the Republican presidencies had four recessions start in their terms: one each under Reagan and George H. W. Bush, and two under George W. Bush. By contrast, Democrats Bill Clinton and Barack Obama had zero.

With the economic downturn created by the coronavirus pandemic, a recession is likely to be declared after the latest GDP data is released, sometime in July. We may be in one now, but it has not been deemed official.

Sam Stovall, chief investment strategist for independent investment research firm CFRA, goes further. Digging through the historical record, he tells USA TODAY that every Republican president since Chester A. Arthur (1881-85) had a recession during his administration.

Regarding the claim of strong economic performance by Democratic presidents since Reagan: The Clinton administration posted 7.5% GDP growth in the second quarter of 2000 and averaged 3.7% over eight years, according to data from the St. Louis Federal Reserve.

Of the post-World War II presidents, only Truman, at 4.8%, Kennedy at 5.2% and Johnson at 5.1% scored higher average growth rates. By contrast, Reagan averaged 3.5%, Carter 3.3%, Nixon 3.1%, Bush I and Ford 2.2% and Bush II 1.65%, according to The Washington Post.

The Obama administration posted a modest 2% growth over eight years, after inheriting the worst economic downturn since the Great Depression from the George W. Bush years, with the U.S. losing nearly 800,000 jobs a month.

During Obama's two terms, the economy added jobs for 75 straight months and ended with the highest level of household income ever recorded, according to Factcheck.org.

If you think the GOP will save the USA, you are ignoring history. And remember, Trump inherited the recovery that Obama, had set into place, only to fuck it up again with his dismal response to Covid-19.

Bye, Red.

Fuck you Rolf.

Inflation rose because Dumb Fuck Donnie fed a virus, broke the economy and global supply chains and supply/demand is out of whack and will need time to readjust and reprice.

But inflationary pressure is one of many problems that Biden has to deal with that Repubs will ignite to scare the villagers.

There is the glimmer of hope that this country can be saved from fascism, but given the popularity in red states of voter suppression and racist polices, I've my doubts.
