This inflation is temporary. Reagan's inflation wasn't.

Oceania does not, and never should, belong to China;

https://anzacportal.dva.gov.au/wars-and-missions/world-war-ii-1939-1945/resources/coastwatchers-1941-1945

The Coastwatchers were supported by all three services. Aircraft dropped their supplies and submarines and PT boats landed them and removed them. The assistance and loyalty of the local population was essential: they performed a vital role in guerrilla operations and intelligence gathering.

A small Australian army signals unit, the New Guinea Air Warning Wireless Company (NGAWW), also existed as a single entity between February 1942 and 1945. In October 1942, the unit was officially renamed 'New Guinea Air Warning Wireless (Independent) Company' as part of New Guinea Force and later, as part of the Corps of Signals in October 1943.
These Army 'spotters' served in the valleys, highlands and around the coastline of New Guinea and nearby islands as signallers. All members of the unit were volunteers and their unit colour patch was a double diamond, being the 'independent' unit (later 'commando') insignia. By 1943-1944, the NGAWW had 75 outposts in New Guinea and surrounding islands in the South-West Pacific Theatre of Operations. The unit was disbanded in 1945 and its members have been commemorated with a plaque in the grounds of the Australian War Memorial in Canberra.

More than 600 Coastwatchers served in Australia, New Guinea and the Pacific Islands during World War II. They included RAAF, AIF, RAN, 1 WRAN, (Women's Royal Australian Naval Officer) US Marines and US Army personnel, members of the British Solomon Islands Protectorate Defence Force and 13 civilians. The thirty eight Coastwatchers who died are not always identifiable on the Roll of Honour at the Australian War Memorial since their names are listed with their operational units and not as Coastwatchers.

Its going to be interesting to watch Biden and buddies cajole threaten and bribe the various factions in an attempt to hold Team D together.

And the Repubs are laughing their asses off.

If Biden fails, he and a D-House and Senate, can't govern.

If he succeeds, he's a spend and tax Dem condemning future generations to crushing debt.

This was a win to set-up a good '22-24, (take the half-loaf, claim a win, and let Americans feel good about a government doing something for them and making their life better, if not perfect) maybe hold the House, grab a couple of Senate seats, and do more work  etc. This pipe dream now appears to be pissed away by stupid and selfish "what's in it for me Dems, both mods and progressives with no fucking sense of what makes political sense.

They couldn't play it smart.

Fucking morons.

And the pay-off will be Kevin McCarthy as Speaker running bogus hearings for 2 years and Machiavellian Mitch as Sauron plotting the rule of the orcs, led by some fascist poster-boy populist running against an aging Joe if he can hold off the pretenders in waiting.

Never take points off the board is usually a decent rule of thumb.

Maybe Biden can pull this off, but D-party unity is a fucking joke and the Repubs are sharpening their knives and axes, getting ready to carve this country up something fierce.

And laughing their asses off.

Chin up chum

The line will form and hold just about where the President the Speaker and the Leaders have already agreed it will.

Manchin and Sinema are keeping republicans burbling on the sidelines thinking those two will do the outpartys work for them a la Collins Romney and Murkowski until the final language is worked out and the two grudgingly add their support at the last moment on vague promises of some right wing pipe dream to be considered later that will never in fact materialize.

Republicans who got bipartisan on the debt limit refugee resettlement and hurricane relief will see bumps that will drive more into that camp while opposers face more political pain and shrinking support. It is a good precedent for future vote and may render Manchin and Sinema less relevant in the final sorting.

Third quarter politics is all this is

Serious legislation is on its way to becoming law

Thank God & vote Democrat every single time you can.

Tell me you're not surprised.

I was hoping common sense might prevail. And barring that, that fear that this country, so close to fascism, might provoke the diversity of the dems to pull together for an imperfect political win to consolidate and hold political power for future goals.

I still hold some hope self-preservation might prevail and these morons can deliver the Biden infrastructure bill and call it a win for Americans.

Can't get the leftists on board, banks. They keep wanting the whole pie, instead of a slice or two.

I think they way overplayed their hand, but as we all know, no one likes to admit they were ever wrong.

I'm hoping the realization of failing to deliver Biden's $1.2 trillion infrastructure bill that everyone wants and could benefit from, will be a huge blow to '22 hopes and might lead to the realization that being a Dem House member in Kevin McCarthy's House ain't worth shit, may give even the dumbest of Dems reason to reconsider their idealogical purity.

I may be wrong.

Inflation rose at its highest rate in 40 years in the third quarter.
Economic growth did not come close to predictions
If Biden gets his $3.5 Trillion Welfare State then the dems will be kicked out in 2022.
So there is a glimmer of hope our country can be saved from Socialiam.

The country has been socialist for more than 90 years. Longer if you are in an extraction industry or one of its subsidiaries.

It is the tit you feed on grandpa.

Leftists like to use language instead of reason to "win". This is why the demonization of Manchin and Sinema is taking place. They can't rationally argue that the country should take on an excessive amount of debt especially when one drills down into the infrastructure bill, so instead they're choosing to deceive the public they say they serve.

So fucked up.

Liberal lawmakers and activists are becoming more unified in their attempt to redefine the language on their terms, hoping that the public will see the outliers as more on the conservative side of the party, rather than in the middle of it.

The left hates the police, but they love to police language---it's what they call progress.

Raise enough revenue in the final versions and the bills can actually shrink our debt load while growing our economy and improving our quality of life

American debt comes from from theft by the right not investment by the left

Seeing wankers argue for letting the country rot out from under us from fear of an imaginary debt bomb is like watching a diabetic chase fistfuls of red velvet cake with mighty swigs from a handle of Southern Comfort.

You do not know what is good for you Utley

Until you learn your decline and fall will only accelerate.

People in your situation shouldn't be giving advice.

Dispensing all sorts of largesse is both a prerogative and prerequisite of one in my situation.

Lime is right you should not be giving anyone any advice. You are purely a cautionary tale denoting hazards to navigation and the sorts of things that happen when one wont stop fucking up.

In the absence of writing utensils, Gasa suggested that Kennedy should inscribe a message on the husk of a coconut he had taken from a nearby palm tree:

This message, after rowing their dugout canoe at great risk through 35 nmi (65 km) of hostile waters patrolled by the Japanese, was then delivered to the nearest Allied base at Rendova. They enabled the ensuing return to Olasana and the successful American rescue operation on 7 August.[4]

The legend of these two men survives to this day among their descendants in the Western Province of the Solomon Islands.

Skipping over your Left bete-noire, I will point out that no version of the social infrastructure bill calls for deficit spending.  Neither you nor Ward nor Kid has posted one jot of evidence it does because none of you have found any.   Simply returning corporate tax to pretrump levels is revenue neutral so far as the Treasury is concerned.
The bill is ALREADY a love letter to moderates.
What, for example, is the cost of the Child Tax Credit increase and how is it paid for?

The wealthy and corporations start paying their fair share.   As you know.  And when did you start worrying on deficits?   Oh right, last January 20.  Dishonest shitpig.

Maybe they should reconsider,  given none of them has any ideological purity in the first place.   Theatrics put on for the wealthy donor class has to stop -- that's the ideological position they should all come together on.
