However, after they did so, employment did not grow substantially faster in those states, previous studies and government data have found.

1. So the answer to a declining workforce is to spend massive amounts of tax dollars to create new jobs?
If Americans do not fill existing jobs why would they fill newly created Government jobs?

2. Only a Socialist thinks that way.
3. And socialism is a proven failure.

1) Nobody said that in this discussion but you.

2) False.

3. False.

I admire the way Red has refused his social security checks and Medicare payments, and only drinks water from his well and only eats food made from farms that get no federal subsidy.

And I am sure he is opposed to Biden's plan to reshore production jobs so that during global crises we are less disrupted by supply chain shortages.   That sounds great,  but Red knows nothing of merit can come from a sleepy socialist.
Was that supposed to mean something?
It had nothing to do with the question I asked.
Or that Joe Manchin keeps bringing up in the Senate

I want to make sure that children are getting taken care of, that people are basically having an opportunity to go back to work. We have 11 million jobs that we have not filled, 8 million people still unemployed. Something
Is not matching up there.

Those jobs suck and Manchin is a whore for corporate socialism.

Half way to becoming a typically amoral republican, according to the report.

Got to ban all civilian gun sales and strictly limit possession.

Thanks for the link.

Impossible to do in America, the bad people are always armed.

Indeed.
But, if I were an American in America [or overseas], I'd be trying to get one of those govt jobs.
Govt jobs are the best.
They'll likely fill the govt jobs easily.

Nor did I contend otherwise since it was a question.
Not surprisingly you ducked.

If a job is worth doing, it is worth making that job attractive to the worker. Most rewarding job openings are filling up quite fast. Bad deals, the kind republicans like to screw you with, remain unfilled and on the table.

Britain and the red states are showing the empty promise and utter failure of conservative klepto-states. They will bitch on the way out, but ultimately nobody will be sorry to see those governments and their backers flushed down the chute.

In bambuworld it's 5.50am Monday 11 October.
After 106 days of 'Lockdown'...it's "Freedom Day".
Radio news just now:
"Scenes reminiscent of the liberation of Paris are expected".

Ohhhhh, totally ridiculous!
The virus is still around, 500+ new cases per day in my state.

Only double-jabbed people can enter stores, pubs, clubs, businesses.
"Have your vaccination certificates ready to show at the door".

Joe is 100% correct on this.

In my world, if people are not fully vaccinated[or have an official medical exemption] now, they cannot enter shops, cafes, gyms, restaurants, etc or work in some industries...construction for example.
My state govt got tough.

My state...70% of people over 16 are fully vaccinated, hence the 'freedom day' today.
By 18 Oct 80% will be fully vaccinated.
By late Oct 90% fully vaccinated..then the *fun* will start, as everyone, including the non-vaccinated, will be mixing fully.
The % youth aged 12-16 fully vaccinated is soaring by the day.

Today Dr Charles Stanley talked about the importance of being patient, and watching God work, and trusting in God.

I have been battling lately with the sadness of life in that time passes quickly, and then we all die. We will all die, and everyone we know will die. But, we have no control over that. We just have to work on how we deal with it. And I always like to believe that Jesus could come down from the sky any moment and could take us all to Heaven. That helps me. If I stay in the moment, and if I believe that Jesus can return at any time, then it helps me.

Also, I like the cultures which value their elders. Instead of trying to stay young, I can embrace the cool elder that I am becoming. The Bible says that I can sit with the elders at the gate.

Salute,

Tony V.

Yes, taxes...and death.
We will all die one day, that is totally certain.
The rich, the poor, "the good, the bad, and the 'ugly'".

Worry not, as a Christian you are promised eternal life.
Relax, enjoy the rest of your life, go to the beach...join the van life community on YouTube...go to Florida for the winter, *everybody else*[and seemingly half of Canada], is.

China persecutes Christians...luckily you and I don't live there.

School shooting in Texas last week.
18 yr old took a .45 hand cannon to school in his bag and started shooting people.

Back home now, ankle bracelet. Something about "bullies"....reportedly.

Obviously that school doesn't have 'Uncle bambu's 3 stage school entry security system' in place.
...or even the more affordable one stage version, a metal detector.

The Two Straw man approach.

Strawman one:  teaching any history of racism is itself "racist" (this one causes the Incoherence Meter to shoot flames)

Straw man two:  white children will be ashamed.

The second strawman is doubly peculiar.   First,  it confuses personal shame with being humanely regretful for what others did in the past.   Second,  it presumes that shame is inherently a bad thing,  while shame is demonstrably a necessary human emotion vital to becoming an adult with a working conscience.   But perhaps this is harsh and children should only learn history in which noble people wearing halos go about the land astride magical horses that only poop rainbows.
