Skip nukes. Go straight to solar and wind. You will have a better life.

Solar and wind are not enough by themselves, yet.

Nothing is enough until you build it.   As long as the wind blows where you build them. A necessary condition that is lacking in a lot of places.

Please name a place on earth where the wind does not blow.

Ward's head.

It's hollow, but he had the various entrances sealed, to avoid any risk of knowledge acquisition.

It is up to us who live here to own California and to make it better. We need to know who our community leaders are, and we need to be able to send them a message whenever we want. My representative here in Anaheim is Councilman Dr Jose F. Moreno, and he attended Harvard. I can write to my Councilman whenever I want, and he listens.

And I was in Kiwanis, with a guy who was the Police Chief of Anaheim, John Welter, and with a lady who was Mayor Pro Tem of Anaheim on 9/11, Shirley McCracken, and we worked to help the children, and to send high school students to college, and to make Anaheim better. The Police Chief told us where the worst neighborhood in Anaheim was, and we went into the neighborhood and we went knocking on doors and we passed out the contact information for the owners of the apartment complexes in the area, and we got the community together to paint over the graffiti and clean up the neighborhood. It worked. We cleaned up the neighborhood and it stayed nice. That neighborhood is still nice. And no one paid us one penny, we did it on our own to improve our community.

It is up to the people who live here in California to take ownership and to clean it up, and to help the homeless, and to make things nice. We get what we settle for. We need to aim higher, and we need to clean things up.

And especially since we depend on things being nice for the tourists, we need to clean things up.

By the way, my favorite big city is Rome, Italy. Los Angeles needs to be more like Rome.

China is organized, and the people of China are working together as a team, if the USA wants to compete with China then the people of the USA need to work together as a team. And we need to have the most educated people on the planet, and our students need to get hired before they even graduate, the companies need to support our workers by encouraging education and by hiring educated workers. Also of note is that our New York financial institutions need to support our Business students as they graduate from Business school by making sure that they have access to Business Loans, etc. And our movie studios need to hire our acting students and film students, etc. We here in the USA need to work together as a team if we want to be able to compete with China and with other nations.

https://www.bruegel.org/2021/09/is-europes-gas-and-electricity-price-surge-a-one-off/

Of the WSJ article, somebody wrote "This article seems to be trying to turn a story about unprecedented highs in natural gas prices (mirroring surging post-covid commodity prices all over) into a story about the wind sometimes not blowing."

They recommended this article:
https://www.reuters.com/business/energy/expensive-winter-ahead-europes-power-prices-surge-2021-09-10/

The keys to wind as a major part of sustainable energy are (a) international power sharing and (b) storage systems. While in any given area, there may be a lull in wind power, it doesn't happen everywhere and won't until the Earth stops revolving, whereupon we will have far bigger problems than our wind power. This is why power transference is vital.

Storage is both a simpler solution and a much shorter term solution at any given moment, but it provides back-up and as our storage solutions (for wind, for solar, for water) improve, it will become a less short term response to periodic lack of wind, etc.

If it were just a matter of reading the news from across the pond, that, too, would be simple.

But we need better systems of transference of knowledge, development of understanding, and storage of and access to interconnected information.

That was one of the most politicized "news" stories from WSJ in a while. They usually keep most of the editorial slant out of the news, but this one swallowed it up and spat it out.

Vatican News

3 hours

Pope Francis received the President of the United States of America, Joseph Biden, in audience on Friday. The Holy Father and President Biden discussed, among other things, migration, the protection of human rights, and the Covid-19 pandemic.

----------------

It is great that Biden met with the Pope, hopefully Biden was also able to meet with the King of Spain. I saw that Biden met with the leaders of France, that is great.

Marco Rubio is pounding the drum about China, and about how the corporations are taking advantage of communist slavery in China, and he is wasting time if he thinks that he will change the minds of the corporations with ethics, instead we need to deal with the corporations with economics, with money, and with what we do control, our ports.

We need to have tariffs on imports, and we need to put high tariffs on imports from China until China improves their human rights. And we can use the money to educate and to train our people, we can build new colleges and medical schools in Chicago and in Detroit, etc, and new tech schools, etc. Raising tariffs on imports also encourages and rewards local production of products locally.

We can control the corporations with what they understand, money and economics, and we can better train our work-force, we can elevate our people, we can improve our neighborhoods, and we can bring the jobs back. The corporations may not understand ethics, but they do understand money and economics.

The decline in offshore wind energy fed into the German grid is purely weather-related,  said TenneT COO Tim MeyerjutgensThere was simply less wind on the German North Sea in the first half of 2021 than in the first half of 2020.
OFFSHOREWINDS.BIZ

Orsted blamed low wind speeds across Europe as the  largest offshore wind developer warned that its profits for 2021 were likely to come in at the low end of its guidance.
Out of 88 quarters on record, it is an extraordinarily poor wind quarter,Nipper said.
It is very serious. It is like you are  a farmer and it does not rain.
