Sometimes, a couple of our members are confused about why I oppose the usage of certain sources for stories about events - ostensibly news sites.

This would be an example with regard to Newsmax:
https://www.cnn.com/2021/11/04/media/twitter-suspends-newsmax-emerald-robinson/index.html

The Luciferase made him do it.

Any news organization worth the name should fire this idiot asap.

Unfortunately Biden seemed to prove he couldn't manage his own party. What confidence would voters have he could manage anything as complex as a $3.5 T transformative plan which would impact so many Americans? Even if the initiative were brilliant?.

Joe bit off more than he could gum.

Had the bill passed, it would not have been Joe managing it, it would have been the responsible agencies which have handled far more money.

"Can't handle his own party" = Schumer not being able to handle two senators out of 50. No, Joe couldn't, either. I suspect he either had more confidence than he should have in himself or in Schumer, though possibly Manchin just flat out lied when he said what would bring him into the fold. (I would not be surprised by that last at all.)

If Biden was lied to, he has few avenues of response in the current Congress. Should he have never believed Manchin to start with?!

You go after the insurrection financing and having gone there, take the wider web of financial violations as an organized criminal affair and the big corporate donors will be too shit scared for at least half a cycle to bribe folks like Manchin, Sinema, Romney, Murkowski, Collins, Menendez, etc.. That should give you a legislative cycle to function almost as well as collegial Congress did before talk radio and cable kicked in and the money spigots got unregulated.

Is it wrong to miss the sixties a little,  when an LBJ would pick up beagles and errant Democratic Senators by their ears?   Would love to be a fly on the wall in a time warp where LBJ has a tete a tete with Joe Mansion.

We've been asked what it is that we are afraid will not be taught as a result of banning CRT, given that CRT is not used in the schools. I provided a truncated answer, previously, but this is a fuller response.

Got a link to this?   Would love to pass this along to a friend.

Manchin has been on TV and quoted in the press quite often recently.  Have you seen any of the interviews - and if yes can you honestly say this is not a good man just working hard for his constituents?

Dems:  "We cannot let Republicans become the party of parents"

Discuss.

Democrats traditional strong suit has been supporting the working class family that  struggles to pay the costs of children: childcare,  healthcare, education,  housing,  etc.   If people do know what Bidens whole platform is about, and his ambitious legislative agenda,  then there is a severe failure of news media to present that information.  Plus maybe some deeply destructive propaganda from the opposition that is more concerned about its power than what is good for parents.

The Dems outlined go big, an 8 or 9 trillion dollar at nearly a trillion a year, federal spending plan that would adequately address our social, industrial, and biological crises. That was go big.

Now we are seeing about a quarter of that about to be put into effect with some exquisite arm twisting and coalition building we will all be able to read lies about in the coming months and years.

That installment, a modest and judicious down payment on a better future is what Congress is about to pass and President Biden is about to sign, though the exact content and language will flip and flop to the very last moment due to the row still unfolding. That will be enough to shore up and juice trends already unfolding and greatly desired and not only get the country moving, but give the country the sense that it is moving  despite the universal absolute opposition of the faded grey confederate rebel republican party spewing bile from the sidelines.

The press can only speculate as to what may or may not be in a bill that has been whittled from a $7T wish list to less than 1/3 of that.

They hear that certain things have been cut from the bill: free college, child care, expanded Medicare, etc all to make the #s work.

IMO it remains a moving target as what may or may not be included in Biden's plan.

The responsibility now and going forward in on the admin to make a compelling case why XYZ at $500B is important and should be a part of the bill. It is not the presses job to make the President's case, its the President's and his party's job to inform the public and get them excited and get them in turn to put pressure on their elected officials.

What is beyond ironic is that the party that has DeVossed and gutted public education in this country, is now being seen as the defender of public schools and as a proxy for concerned parents dependent upon good schools and what their kids are taught.

You embody the attitude of the current  democrat party, elitists so out of touch with those issues it turns them all into modern day Marie Antoinettes.
Two examples.
Terry McAuliffe, the campaign manager for Hillary when she insulted opponents as DEPLORABLE doubled down on that idiocy by declaring I do not think parents should control what is taught in our schools.
That sealed his fate against a candidate who dealt with issues parents were most concerned about in Virginia.
Glen Youngkin was declared the winner by some news organizations a mere 90 minutes after the polls closed.

In New Jersey democrat Phil Murphy was heard commenting on high state and local taxes in New Jersey
If taxes are your issue, then New Jersey is probably not your state
A 16 point Lead in the polls has melted down to a recount.

Neither example speaks to a party whose strong suit is caring about working class families.
Check the exit polls.

I can't speak too well about VA's race, but in NJ the real issues surrounding the governor's race had little to do with Biden, and much to do with property taxes, property taxes, and property taxes. The governor ran a pretty bad campaign and almost blew it to a guy who is really only about himself.

And the tax problems were caused by the GOP and Trump killing the SALT deductions to help disguise the cost of the 2027 tax cuts...

And Murphy bucked historic trends and still WOM.

Refusal to promote the nuclear family - and acceptance of its destruction - also very DEMOCRAT

No, thats not true. The property tax issues have been around for decades. SALT made them worse, but they exist due to arcane NJ constitutional law interpretation and due to how schools are funded, too many PDs, lack of coordinated services, and more.
