Interesting - thanks for the link.

This is viewed as extremity - and maybe it is - but the underlying point hits quite well.

From the article...

He listed a lack of knowledge of the U.S. Constitution among his concerns as well as what he views as an overemphasis of the subject of structural racism.

Haroldson was stumped, however, when pressed on his own knowledge of the Constitution.

One being a worrisome matter

The other a cheap shot gotcha on lack of encyclopedic recall

The world is so corrupt that we have leaders who are trying to remove regulations and red tape to import cars into the USA, instead of building high speed mass transit. We need to build our high speed trains here in the USA. We can put high tariffs on the imported cars and we can use the money to build high speed trains in the USA, etc. And we can build more subways in urban areas, etc.

Forty percent of the imports that enter the USA come through Southern California, through Long Beach and Los Angeles, that means that we have some power. We need to have high tariffs on imports, and low taxes for Americans. And we can use the money from tariffs on imports to elevate and raise up our people. We can build clean high speed mass transit. And we can build new colleges, and we can send our people to school to become doctors and scientists, etc, and architects, and landscape designers, we can train our people for the jobs of today and the jobs of the future. And we can spend money on redevelopment of poor neighborhoods.

And we need to make our immigrants legal, and we need to write a new immigration law which allows our good neighbors easy access, and we can hire Mexican truck drivers, and Canadian truck drivers.

And we need to invest in Mexican ports.

Salute,

Big night on the Hill...

BIG night.

Looks like Moderates stopped moving the goalposts and promised not to ratfuck the BBB after the vote to pass BIF.

After all the push and pull these bills are fucking huge no matter how you slice it.

Heres what the bill would fund:

Funding for Roads and Bridges: The bill calls for investing $110 billion for roads, bridges and major infrastructure projects. Thats significantly less than the $159 billion that Biden initially requested in the American Jobs Plan. Included is $40 billion for bridge repair, replacement and rehabilitation, according to the bill text. The White House says it would be the single, largest dedicated bridge investment since the construction of the interstate highway system, which started in the 1950s.

Money for transit and rail: The package would provide $39 billion to modernize public transit, according to the bill text. Thats less than the $85 billion that Biden initially wanted to invest in modernizing transit systems and help them expand to meet rider demand.

Broadband upgrade: The bill would provide a $65 billion investment in improving the nations broadband infrastructure, according to the bill text. Biden initially wanted to invest $100 billion in broadband. It also aims to help lower the price households pay for internet service by requiring federal funding recipients to offer a low cost affordable plan, by creating price transparency and by boosting competition in areas where existing providers arent providing adequate service. It would also create a permanent federal program to help more low income households access the internet, according to the White House fact sheet.

Upgrading airports, ports and waterways: The deal would invest $17 billion in port infrastructure and $25 billion in airports to address repair and maintenance backlogs, reduce congestion and emissions near ports and airports and promote electrification and other low carbon technologies, according to the White House. It is similar to the funding in Bidens original proposal.

Electric vehicles: The bill would provide $7.5 billion for zero and low emission buses and ferries, aiming to deliver thousands of electric school buses to districts across the country, according to the White House. Another $7.5 billion would go to building a nationwide network of plug in electric vehicle chargers, according to the bill text.
Improving power and waterways: The bill would invest $65 billion to rebuild the electric grid, according to the White House. It calls for building thousands of miles of new power lines and expanding renewable energy, the White House said. It would provide $55 billion to upgrade water infrastructure, according to the bill text. It would replace lead service lines and pipes so that communities have access to clean drinking water, the White House said. Another $50 billion would go toward making the system more resilient, protecting it from drought, floods and cyberattacks, the White House said.

Environmental remediation: The bill would provide $21 billion to clean up Superfund and brownfield sites, reclaim abandoned mine land and cap orphaned gas wells, according to the White House.

Tony, I am sure none of us has ever told you this before:

TARIFFS ON IMPORTS ARE TAXES ON OUR CITIZENS.

They raise the prices on products that we wish to purchase.

And our homegrown competitors don't leave their prices low to take advantage of their price advantage. They raise their prices, being able to make more money directly.

Further, the countries on whose products we put tariffs then put tariffs on our exports, frequently not proportionally, and that costs our companies sales, in turn.

A tariff war is bad news for consumers. The only winners are the corporations.

I am unconvinced that their promise about BBB is going to be honored.

And of course you like it, Kid.

It is somewhere between a half and a third of what we need.

Groups such as Homeboy Industries can help ex felons to enter the marijuana industry, and growers in the Antelope Valley can sell to Vegas, etc. And pot is a top California export right up there with strawberries.
