I think the Squad vote was bad optics right now.  People dont get why they voted that way and it lands on a lot of ears as making the perfect the enemy of the good.

Just wish they had put the affordable housing program in the infra bill instead of in the BBB, so it could kick off NOW.   We are atm two million units short in the US,  and the need to get small homes and multiples built is immediate.  Change zoning laws,  promote affordable construction materials and alternatives to wood,  help allocate land,  affordable builder loans,  tax credits,  ease the labor shortage in construction with various incentives to workers,  and so on.

There are many cities where businesses cannot expand or even come there because there is no place for new workers to live.  The problem is dire where I live - we keep getting stuff in the mail from companies that offer to buy our house.   They want to buy houses and convert them to MFD rentals since demand is so high.

The Squad looks a lot better than the 190 or so republicans who voted against the BIL with no reason or principle beyond a desire to sabotage the United States as it moves past them into a better future.

So now we are going to get new trains. We need to build the high speed trains of the future when we build our trains. We must not build the old slow dirty trains of the past. We need fast and clean trains.

The people on the television news need to start doing stories about the new high speed trains that we are going to build. This is exciting. We are finally going to get high speed trains in the USA.

On the issue of the California High Speed rail, they need to hire more workers, and they need to build on multiple locations at once. And right now people need to build the section of high speed rail between Lancaster and Los Angeles.

We also need to build a high speed train between Anaheim and Las Vegas. If you go one way then you go to Disneyland, and if you go the other way then you go to Vegas.

Amtrak will have high speed trains in the future, we need to build the high speed trains of the future now.

So ya wanna post photos of you, your kids and relatives' kids on facebook...including your 13 yr old daughter model and influencer on Instagram?
Best of luck with that.

The alleged kidnapper of 4 yr old Cleo in Western Australia recently is alleged to have created fake families on facebook using the photos of a Sydney family and other families.
Said families are horrified. "Our settings were "private".
All detailed in my Sunday Telegraph today.

Cleo was found alive the other day...healthy and reasonably happy.
She was locked in a room, playing with dolls and other toys when the cops raided the home. Man allegedly involved was arrested at another location.
A photo of the Indigenous man allegedly involved, holding two brand name dolls, was published the other day in the paper.
Could be the 36 yr old 'loner' man might've wanted a real family. He allegedly bought 'toddler diapers' at the local supermarket.

*****

He's been transferred to prison in Perth...photo of him barefoot [cops couldn't have found him some shoes?]...handcuffed, shackled, unkempt, escorted by 'special' big burly armed prison officers, now in the media.
Might've looked to some people like a "black man in chains" from an earlier era in the nation's history.

Fac.

You're damning with faint praise.

At least the Repubs voting against the Biden infrastructure plan were loyal to their party line even as they were disloyal to the needs of the US. And they had a purpose to sabotage Biden's agenda as they want to retake control of the House. Their actions are understandable.

The squad on the other hand were traitors to their party and their country.

FUCK 'EM

YMMV

You just have to really dig down and embrace socialism.

A lot of well earned props for our current dead enders who have fallen from the way.

On the issue of people being locked down by themselves during the corona crisis...

When I managed a dog kennel I would take the dogs that were staying in the kennel for a long time out to the exercise yard to play, if dogs are staying at a kennel for a long time and if you do not take them out of the kennel to play, then the dogs become "Kennel Shy" and then they are afraid to come out of the kennel and they are afraid of everyone, dogs that are Kennel Shy do not want to come out of the kennel. The same thing happens with people.

People who are locked down by themselves during the corona crisis are becoming Kennel Shy, I know I am. I am getting to where I just want to sit here by myself and I get to where I do not want to be around any people. So, it is important for people to get outside and walk, and to be around other people, so they do not become Kennel Shy.

People in prison and in mental hospitals and in board and care homes and in shelters, etc, become institutionalized, and they have a hard time getting a job and having a real life.

Salute,

http://www.politico.com/news/2021/11/06/rural-dems-trouble-519782

We need a home grown and nationally funded chapter of the DSA and the SRA in every rural county in this country.

That should be the Democrats big political project once we settle this round of legislative lifts.

I don't see that as even slightly a saving grace.

And the squad put nothing at risk.

The GOP has no such claim.

https://bookriot.com/texas-book-ban-list/

The 850 books one Texas lawmaker wants banned.

Perhaps the most disturbing trend I saw in this list is the challenging of books that teach students their rights. Of all the things to teach in school or for kids to have access to, this is one of the most important. To be clear, Im not even counting books about reproductive rights or your rights as an LGBTQ person in particular. These are titles like The Legal Atlas of the United States, Teen Legal Rights, Gender Equality and Identity Rights (Foundations of Democracy), Equal Rights, We the Students, Supreme Court Sases for and About Students, and Peaceful Rights for Equal Rights.

What does it say about an elected official that he would want books about students legal rights taken out of school libraries? Who considers it dangerous for kids to know their rights? Withholding information from students about their rights is incredibly unethical. Whether a parent or lawmaker agrees with every right students have, they should not be able to deny students access to knowing about them.

Have you researched this book?  Does the article tell us anything beyond the title?

Nope.

How can we make such a quick judgment as this writer did?

I own one edition of it, Kid.

I had no problems with it. Neither did the conservative principal at the public school I was teaching at then, though I used one or another edition of Street Law for our text on the subject of kids and the legal system, instead.

It seems to me that you are always ready to make quick judgments, but object to others' quick judgments when they don't align with yours.

So surprising.
