I wonder what it was like to be a kindhearted person in Germany in the thirties, the sort who would say "I don't wish death on any man," and watch what was happening.   I am getting that flavor of conflicted emotion these days.

I've read about some of the physicists in Germany, many Jewish, who fled in the 30s, and some of those stories are hair-raising ones, where they barely escape and leave all their worldlies behind.  Einstein got out one month before Hitler became Chancellor.  Some Nazi groups were denouncing relativity as "Jewish physics" and had published a photo of him in a magazine with a caption something like "Due to be hanged soon." 

The Nazis also got a group of 100 scientists to denounce relativity as wrongheaded.

Which resulted in one of my favorite rebuttals in history.  Einstein responded that to defeat relativity one did not need the word of 100 scientists, just one fact.

One of my favorite people from the entertainment industry is Henry Winkler, who played the Fonz, and his family barely escaped the holocaust, many of his extended family members died.

It is good that wise men such as Henry should be in a position of power in the entertainment industry.

There was a lady on the news, and she was a professor at a college, and she was saying that a civil war is brewing in the USA. She is a crack-pot. The USA will be fine.

And I am lucky to live in a complex that is like our own gated compound, with about 75 apartments with a swimming pool, and with tennis courts down the street at the park. We have great parks in Orange County. Our City motto in Anaheim is City of Kindness. This is a great city. Right after I moved in I was blessed to pass out a truck load of free ice cream to my neighborhood, me and Uncle Dennis, and we had parties here in the courtyard with free tacos and pizza for everyone and free live music.

This neighborhood is solid, the people here are not going to riot nor will they revolt nor will a civil war happen here.

And Tommy Lasorda lived close by in Fullerton.

This area is solid, no wars are going to happen here.
