We have food security in California because we put some of our immigrants to work with the United Farm Workers growing food and making wine, etc.
I hate it when I see all of the homeless people, it is all wasted potential, what if we had those people working in the fields growing food? We have 60,000 homeless people in Los Angeles alone, what if they were working growing food for the world? They can go to Bakersfield and they can grow food, and they can go to Napa and work in the vineyards. People are living in tents on the sidewalk, that is such wasted potential.
We need to help people to realize their human potential, while at the same time we can grow food and we can feed the hungry people.
Here is a link for the United Farm Workers, and a lot of people love it to get out and work in the vineyards, you can have the music playing while you work in the vineyards, etc. It is better than sleeping on the sidewalk in a tent.
https://ufw.org/In California we also have Sunkist, etc. It is better to pick oranges than sleep on the sidewalk.
Salute,
