Likely that the GOP will try to torpedo this, as they (a) hate admitting that things like the Buffalo shooting are domestic terrorism and (b) prefer thoughts and prayers over action and they value gun ownership over children's lives. (They also pretend to value fetuses over children.)

Please note that law already on the books in New York was enacted to stop such tragedies.

In 2019, New York enacted an extreme risk prevention law, otherwise known as a red flag law, that can bar individuals who present an immediate danger to themselves or others from possessing firearms. The Buffalo shooter did not have a previous criminal record, but he had made serious threats of violence that were brought to the attention of police.

The Buffalo attacker was required to undergo a psychological evaluation at age 17, after allegedly saying he wanted to commit murder suicide at his high school.
No action was taken by law enforcement following the evaluation, so there was nothing in the attacker s record to prevent him from passing a background check to buy a firearm.

Georgia has seen 539,297 people cast ballots as of Tuesday, far outpacing the 182,684 by this point in the 2018 midterm primary elections, according to data compiled by Georgia Votes.
That is a record breaking turnout for early voting in Georgia.

Gee, when Georgia legislators last year passed an election security law democrats  panned it as voter suppression which President Biden said harkened back to the era of Jim Crow.

ROFL!

The bill - as described - is certainly a good idea.  It would need some modification to pass Senate

Lets go, baby.

Let's go!

Interesting that Stefanik "introduces" a legislative bill on Wednesday which is basically what Biden ordered on Monday and announced to media that day.  Seems like a cheap and dishonest attempt to score political points, and shame on Fox for failing to note Biden's action two days earlier.

Because this Act of Congress is designed to permanently fix a shortcoming of Govenment.
Biden cannot do that.

Nice evade!  But Stefanik worded her press release AS IF BIDEN HAD DONE NOTHING, AS OF WEDNESDAY, WHEN IN FACT HE HAD SET THINGS IN MOTION THE PRIOR WEEKEND TO IMPLEMENT INCREASES IN IMPORT AND PRODUCTION, AS WELL AS EMERGENCY AIR CARGO WITH THE DoD.   She made it sound like Republicans had come up with solutions the administration hadn't thought of and were not implementing.  This was a false representation of the situation.

IOW, JOURNALISTS AT FOX OMITTED THE IMPORTANT CONTEXT which would be essential to any competent journalistic coverage.  Instead they let the spin of one Far Right Congresswoman be presented unchallenged as if it were the sum of relevant facts, when it was actually an implicit lie about administration action.

This should disturb anyone getting their news from a single source.
