75 years ago today the diary of a young girl was published.  Great work by the Google doodle folks.

The decent person, Miep Gies, who hid the Franks, lived to 101.

by continuing the imposition of a rigid national rule instead of allowing for regional differences, the Court merely prolongs and intensifies the anguish.

Rigid?  If your religion opposes abortion then don't get an abortion.  A woman's right to choose is about as flexible as a right can be.
Scalia was right. Try focusing on what he said.

You guys should try that with the 2nd, too.  Save my grandkids having to wear Kevlar to school.

"... the Court merely prolongs and intensifies the anguish."

I read this from Scalia. I read it again, paraphrased, in an op ed on CNN. Professor Carter Snead wrote:
Quote
Not only did Roe and its progeny corrupt the law, but it also badly damaged our politics. It channeled all of the political energy of the abortion debate into proxy battles for control of the Supreme Court that played out in a toxic fashion in presidential and senatorial campaigns, reaching a shameful apex in judicial confirmation hearings, which have become a no-holds-barred blood sport where politicians don't merely argue, they seek to destroy the nominee as a person. This has transformed into something entirely darker, with justices and their families facing harassment and other threats of violence, including murder.

It has to be one of the most absurd positions I have ever read, whether Ward's, Scalia's, or Snead's.

This decision won't change the politics of the situation, it will just change the direction of the push. It won't change the violence which Snead conveniently ignores has been carried out against abortion providers and individuals seeking abortions (or even just health care, but from the "wrong" place at the "wrong" time).

This decision prolongs and intensifies the anguish far more than a different decision would have. Had this course supported Roe it would have actually reduced the conflict, but the lack of integrity on the part of Alito (among others) precluded his even considering that.

I write this for the majority of us, as I know that Ward is no more capable of considering the truth of what I write than "Justice" Alito would have been.

Scalia sets a good example for conservative jurists. They should join him in his decision to stop breathing.

I read this from Scalia
You did not use  Scalia words, except for an out of context phrase from a his dissent to Casey that I already cited.
You posted an opinion from Carter Snead a Notre Dame Law Professor. He was not paraphrasing he was giving his opinion and he is spot on.

That should get you right back to feudalism which is exactly where you want to take us.

You picture yourself a lord, but you are really more of a gong farmer.

Time for father's rights to be considered

If he wants to carry the fetus to term, I suppose that's an option, Kid.

Otherwise, it is enslavement of the woman.

IOW, there is no way for the father to share the risk.

You could aim for a minimum of life insurance on the father, 50% of the pre-natal expenses and birth expenses, etc., with child care backdated to fertilization.

And in those states that forbid abortions, guarantee of the child's expenses through age 18, since they are requiring birth.

IOW, the states are no more "pro-life" than Samuel Alito is.

I am not an advocate for frequent changes in laws and Constitutions. But laws and institutions must go hand in hand with the progress of the human mind. As that becomes more developed, more enlightened, as new discoveries are made, new truths discovered and manners and opinions change, with the change of circumstances, institutions must advance also to keep pace with the times. We might as well require a man to wear still the coat which fitted him when a boy as civilized society to remain ever under the regimen of their barbarous ancestors.

His words were no more out of context when I used them than when you used them, but here they are in their entirety for others to judge:
https://www.law.cornell.edu/supct/html/91-744.ZX4.html

It is entertaining in an abstract to recognize that the right wing excoriates the left for referring to an American Common Law at some points while relying upon it at other points, or as Scalia says, "our society's tradition."

It is true that our society's tradition does not include legal abortion and equally true that it does include abortions aplenty.

Our society's tradition didn't include semi-automatic rifles that could be easily converted to machines that could hold 100 rounds and shoot more than a bullet per second. Yet, these same folks hold that the laws apply there.

No consistency, no substance. Just raw, applied power to control.

And to blather.
