On the issue of the rise in crime in Palm Springs, and in Beverly Hills, etc...

There needs to be a big union for armed guards, and then the businesses and communities can hire private armed guards through the union, the same way that contractors hire carpenters, etc.

There is a big demand for professional armed security guards, and there needs to be a union so that they can be paid fair and so that they will be treated well.

It is also convenient to hire through a hiring hall.

Salute,

I am sure the Teamsters would help to organize the professional armed security guards, and help them to form the hiring hall system, etc.

Here is a link for a group I found on Google that helps security guards to form unions.

https://www.unionforsecurityofficers.com/armed-security-officers-union

The professional armed security guards need to all unionize pronto.

Law Enforcement says the gun ruling will make their jobs harder.

Meanwhile the House passed gun reform today which should be a big win for the GOP in terms of defusing a barrel of political dynamite in the midterms.

A celebratory moment.

But folks were too busy protesting.

If you are going to use my words you should acknowledge such...

You mean Mitch McConnell gets the laps. He stole a seat outright and then used the exact opposite logic to grab another.

Meanwhile the House passed gun reform today which should be a big win for the GOP in terms of defusing a barrel of political dynamite in the midterms.

Your common sense Justices just nuked any advantage gained by the GOP.

Good on ya...

DC is within 100 miles of the coast. The court says you do not have to even read rights anymore.

Use ICE to end republican incumbency in any and all positions right now.

The we can enshrine the right to privacy and properly constrain the ownership and availability of firearms.

You have more confidence in the electorate than I do.

By a wide margin.

The Weingart Center and other groups need to work hard to make sure that the homeless people in Los Angeles register to vote and then vote in the elections. The homeless people need to vote.

It is entertaining in an abstract to recognize that the right wing excoriates the left for referring to an American Common Law at some points while relying upon it at other points, or as Scalia says, our society stradition.

It is true that our tradition does not include legal abortion and equally true that it does include abortions aplenty.
Say what?
Legal abortions were always available in the USA but legality was not widespread. That changed with ROE in 1973 when it was made legal as a Constitutional Right. Over the intervening 49 years States began restricting that right due to huge pressure from those opposed to abortion.
Yesterday SCOTUS held there is no Constitutional such right leaving the legality of abortion totally up to  the States. The decision also noted that States cannot bar residents from traveling out its jurisdiction to find legal abortions.
Quote
Our tradition did not  include semi-automatic rifles that could be easily converted to machines that could hold 100 rounds and shoot more than a bullet per second. Yet, these same folks hold that the laws apply there.
Owning guns predated the Constitution as a right.  The Second Amendment only protects that right and SCOTUS precedent means protecting that right regardless of location of the legal gunowner who is using it for legal purposes. As with abortion the regulation of guns varies from state to state.

Making abortion a middle class right for half of American women.

Then it always was by tradition.
If there is to be a full right, if that is term you want, then Congress has to act.
