California has changed as the jobs left, etc. It was way better back in the 1980s. In the 1980s my hometown was building the Space Shuttles and the desert was like a resort. The women used to shop in their swimsuits at the grocery store, we had zero crime, everyone knew everyone, the desert was great in the 1980s. And Van Nuys used to manufacture Chevy Camaros, etc, Van Nuys used to be a great area, we cruised Van Nuys Blvd and we hung out at Balboa Park, Van Nuys was great in the 1980s. And Hollywood was great in the 1980s, and the Beaches, California was great in the 1980s.
But, now everyone wants to be a gangster, everyone wants to be a tough guy. And the music glorifies gang violence, etc. People get killed all of the time. If you want crime, go to Chicago, get the fuck out of California. Go be a tough guy in Chicago.
I love the beach, and fun like a "Beach Blanket Bingo" movie. When I was a teen we had parties with music and bon fires in the desert with girls, it was all fun, and then the fucking convicts and military guys started showing up and starting fights, they ruined it with violence. I did not want violence at my parties, I wanted to have fun with the girls, and make out, like a Beach Boys song.
California has 11 million immigrants here who were born in other nations. We get to create their reality of what the USA is.
Right now people are greedy, and selfish like Donald Trump, and everyone is racist and they support their own ethnic group, America is a very divided place right now. We need to fix America. Part of that is with our Entertainment Industry and the image that we create of ourselves, as Frank Capra knew, Hollywood has a big responsibility. And we need to teach everyone in America that ALL MEN ARE CREATED EQUAL, that is what makes us special.
And I support all of the things that God asks us to do in Matthew 25; 31-46 where God tells us to help the homeless, and feed the hungry, and to minister to the people in prison, etc. I also support the 10 Commandments, where God tells us many good things, I wish everyone obeyed the 10 Commandments.
We also need to have programs for the children such as Little League Baseball and the Cub Scouts, etc, and we have Kiwanis for the adults, etc.
And here in Anaheim the City was so corrupt that the Mayor tried to sell Angel Stadium, he is being investigated by the FBI.
California was great in the 1980s. Right now we have a lot of problems in California. We need to create jobs, we need to create a new healthier self image, we need to help the homeless, etc. Maybe Rick Caruso can help Los Angeles, we will see.
When I was a kid in Oregon I used to get beat up because I was born in California, I paid my dues for being a Californian. There are a lot of people who hate California, in Oregon, and in other states, there are people who do not like Californians. So, it sucks to get beat up for being born here, only to be homeless and poor here, while the jobs all go to other places. And as the jobs leave to go to other places, we have people coming here from all over the world to take the jobs here, so the job market is very competitive in California. California is a hard place.
I lived in Florida in 1980 in Cape Canaveral, right on the beach in the Wind Jammer Condominiums, and it was great. Florida is fun when you are a teen. I would love to have a condo there right now.
California is my home, and I have had to fight because I was born here, but the state has a lot of problems. Gavin Newsom is not a good governor. We need a better governor.
And maybe Rick Caruso will help in Los Angeles.
Salute,
Tony V.
