The problem is global, not just with the so-called Conservatives:

Arizona, oddly, has had a lot of female governors. AZ had its first female female governor in 1988, after Evan Meacham was impeached. We have had 3 since then, and barring a shock of epic proportions, will get a fifth this year.

Take heed indeed...

Octung, beaches!
This one was easy to see coming.

How can you Americans lecture us on democracy? Sometimes, the president who ends up in your White House is not even the person who got the most votes.

Except of course that has never happened in our system.
But never mind. The answer to a dying democracyis to change to a popular vote outcome and elect only democrats!
ROFL!

Except of course that has never happened in our system.

Here comes the Electoral College qualifier if you point out Gore got 545,000 more votes than Bush and Clinton received 3 million more votes than Trump.

So I did it for him.
Even so, he is wrong. John Quincy Adams came in second in electoral votes to Andrew Jackson in 1824 and was named president by the House (four Democrats got electoral votes that year). He lost the popular.vote to Jackson.

Also, Rutherfraud B. Hayes lost both the popular and but for fraud, the electoral votes. 2020 is not the first time Republicans used a fake elector scheme. Just the first time it did not work. Also also, Benjamin Harrison lost the popular vote.
None of which alters my post.
But it does prove once again you cannot admit error, even your obvious errors. Beehive as expectorated.
I made no errors.

That you will admit to.

Lie, deny, and obfuscate.
No President of the USA has ever  been elected with a minority of votes as laid out in the Constitution.
I suggest you look it up.

And there is the mealy-mouthed Ward, as predicted many posts ago.

So what if one of the elections was corrupt? (At least one, that is.) Corrupt is included in the Constitution, in Ward's view.
Okay.
You never read the Constitution nor the election results.
And you are supposed to be the Global Moderator?
Of what?
Fucking stupidity of American History?
The stupidity is in you. 1824.
Nope
Our system has a remedy for elections that fall short of a winner by majority.
It is another VOTE.
As you already pointed out
John Quincy Adams came in second in electoral votes to Andrew Jackson in 1824 and was named president by the House

You're dense as uranium.  The article is about a whole array of failings that disqualify us from Beacon of Democracy status, and point towards authoritarianism with a superficial facade of democracy.   The author's point was that the flaw pointed out by the African politician is but one tip of the iceberg.

It is just another anti-trump broadside that has nothing to do with the health of our democracy.

I get to thinking there is no possible social upside to the way republicans think about the second amendment, then I read about guys like this

All of Texas needs to stand their ground against this kind of faux religious corrupt influence.

Or they cut a deal as did Hayes and Tilde pun in 1876.

Twelve years after the murder of Lincoln the Republicans accepted the presidency in return for withdrawing federal troops from the South.

Good bye Reconstruction!

Hello Jim Crow and the reign of terror.

Told you he would pull some arcane bullshit out his dusty ass.

The Commissioner of the Texas Education Agency has just announced an intention for his group to take over management and control of all 1400+ school districts.

I saw that and thought of Frank Underwood's line, "When the tit's that big, everybody gets in line."
