Washington DC Mayor Muriel Bowser is asking the National Guard to mobilize in an effort to deal with the migrants that are being bused to the city from southern states.

The mayor, who has championed accepting migrants entering the country illegally as a human rights issue, requested the DC National Guard be activated indefinitely to assist with what she called a  humanitarian crisis.

Bowser is asking that the DC Armory be used as a processing center and DC National Guard resources be used to help field migrants as they arrive by bus.

I agree with you, but don't see your proposed response happening.

There was a point where opening a criminal case against a former president was beyond the realm of possibility, but here we are watching the list grow of those known to have appeared before the Grand Jury.

It is a question of recognizing how republicans and the wider right have move beyond politics directly into crime. Once we accept this we can use the tools in place to combat their networks.

We have a few good Democrats here in California...

We have Rick Caruso who is a billionaire who is running for Mayor of Los Angeles.

We have Lou Correa who is in the House of Representatives for Orange County.

We have Sabrina Cervantes who works for the local California State Government on the Assembly for the Norco area ( The San Bernardino area ).

And here in Anaheim we have Councilman Dr Jose F. Moreno who attended Harvard.

We have some good Democrats in California.

No, you are mistaken.

She cannot order the NG. She can ask for them.

Mayor Muriel Bowser does not have the same authority over the D.C. National Guard that governors have over their states. She can only request guard troops from the Secretary of the Army. That request then gets sent up the chain of command to the Secretary of Defense for approval.

Even then, Bowser's jurisdiction is limited. Because of the District's finicky federal status of not being a state, she can only request guard troops to land that belongs to the city. That excludes federal territory, like the Capitol and its environs. The Secretary of Defense needs to approve the deployment of National Guard troops from any jurisdiction at federal land like the Capitol complex.
