Meanwhile, in Missouri, Mark McCloskey did not have the popular mandate to lead that he seemed to expect, getting about 3% of the vote for the US Senate GOP nomination.

Primary wins of election deniers in some states could be good news for Democratic opponents in November.  For example, election denier Blake Masters won the GOP nomination for U.S. Senate in Arizona.  He might be too polarizing (also known for antisemitic and racist remarks) to get much traction against Mark Kelly.

Well, Kelly had a big polling lead over any Repo, and the second place candidate was a fake elector, so it would be the same dynamic regardless. The main differences seem to be Master tending to go off rails message wise and spending huge amounts of someone elses money rather than his own.

A January 6 protester and election denier won the Repo nomination to oversee the states election. Governor is still up in the air since we still have lots of mail in ballots.

And it was Jefferson who persuaded Madison that the Bill of Rights would help make the judicial branch the protector of individual rights and secure them against the shifting winds of popular opinion.  Here's a well known snippet from that Bill of Rights....

The enumeration in the Constitution, of certain rights, shall not be construed to deny or disparage others retained by the people

So, the SCOTUS, in the past hundred years articulated some of those rights, like the presumption of innocence in criminal cases, the right to travel within the country and the right to privacy, especially marital privacy.  And medical privacy. These rights, although originally not enumerated, had a path to further definition in the Ninth amendment.  The point of the amendment is that we are not ruled by Napoleonic Codes that are rigidly fixed and completely enumerated at the outset.  Jefferson had a good quote on that, too, which I've posted here before.

So no, not "thank you Scotus" for failing to continue the protection of rights secured a half century ago.  You CPH.

Among the areas of your ignorance, the historical purpose of the Declaration of Independence and its role as a.legal document in our system, the difference between Governments drawing their power from the consent of the governed and rights existing only with the consent of the governed and basic English.
