But if the raid turns up nothing another Trump presidency is entirely possible.

Entirely possible?

You're funny.  We are working in a "foregone conclusion" mode right now.

No, because the raid is about records taken by Trump.

The Georgia case, the NY State case, the NY City case, the Washington, D.C. case, and at least one other federal case are still ongoing.

Nothing foregone about it at all.

p.s. Giuliani was ordered to appear  before the GA grand jury.

It is up to the FBI to make a case. Trump is innocent until found otherwise.
Since the FBI has meddled in the last two presidential elections it is hardly surprising Trump will let the FBI hang itself this time.
The raid was high stakes gamble, so high Biden was kept in the dark.
But if the raid turns up nothing another Trump presidency is entirely possible.

If the DOJ makes a high stakes gamble, they probably have a good hand.
A good  hand for what? Prosecuting Trump for illegally handling classified documents?
Bill Clinton National Security Advisor Sandy Berger STOLE 5 classified documents from the National Archives Was only charged with a misdemeanor. Hillary hid classified documents on her private sever and got only an FBI Investigation.

The warrant for the Trump raid may be legitimate but its purpose was only to search for Jan6 evidence.
The dems want, above all, to disqualify Trump from reelection  which, according to the US Constitution is impossible. But they can achieve a de facto disqualification via public opinion.

There is a baseless claim if ever there were one.

"The mob takes the Fifth Amendment. If you are innocent, why are you taking the Fifth Amendment?"

Donald Trump, 2016.

"I take the Fifth Amendment."

Donald Trump, today.

As a side note, the NYAG investigation is a civil case, which means unlike in a criminal case his taking the Fifth can be held against him and a jury can draw the inference he did not answer because he is GUILTY GUILTY GUILTY! Lock him up!

Patreus also got a misdemeanor conviction. Which it was at the time. It only became a felony at Trumps insistence in 2018. Just in time to make a felon of him. Tis sport to have the engineer hoist with his own petard.

Hillary hid classified documents on her private sever and got only an FBI Investigation.
She was not charged because the FBI determined it could not prove intent. In part because she has the technological understanding of a 70 year old grandmother and in part because the classified nature of the documents was not clear.

Hiding. Never change you Comically Transparent Partisan Hack.

You got the reasoning backward
The civil case is going nowhere but anything Trump said in a deposition would be forwarded to the Criminal case.

Trump has already achieved his de facto disqualification via public opinion. We tallied the votes in 2020. The result was officially registered by Jan 7, 2021.

That is why we have a patriotic, competent, and active administration that has brought inflation down to its current level of 0.3 percent.

Since trump published both the warrant and the receipt of goods from the anti-criminal activity carried out in his Florida fuckhouse, I cannot imagine him lying to anyone about any aspect of it.

It is not like he has ever fibbed before.

There is no correlation to the Trump warrant.
Patreus was convicted of lying to the FBI and passing along classified documents to his lover, among other differences.

No, because the raid is about records taken by Trump.
which is a nothing burger. Sandy Berger and Hillary can attest to that.

"but her emails!"

The emails were examined and even the GOP-led committee found nothing in them worth chasing. 113 had classified information. 3 were marked, but the DoJ said the markings were unclear.

Of course, it turned out that her email server was more secure than the State Department's, but that doesn't let her off the hook. She paid for her crime by losing the 2016 election, though it was not a formal penalty.

Berger? He stole and destroyed "five classified copies of a single report commissioned from Richard Clarke covering internal assessments of the Clinton Administration's handling of the unsuccessful 2000 millennium attack plots." Why did he steal five of them? Given that there were more copies, it's beyond me!

But he lost his security clearance (for 3 years) and gave up his law license. $50,000 fine.

What Trump had was a dozen boxes of material. Was any of it more vital than either Berger's theft of Clarke's report or Clinton's private email server?

I suppose that remains to be seen - but given that Trump's been in discussion with the National Archives for 18 months and he previously handed over 15 boxes, but not these, presumably he kept them for a reason.

If he wanted us to know what they were looking for, he would release the warrant.
