The College Board on Wednesday released a revised version of an Advanced Placement African American studies course following criticism from Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis (R), who refused to allow the program to run in Florida schools.

In a new framework for the course reviewed by The Hill, Black writers and scholars associated with critical race theory have been scrubbed from the curriculum, as have those who touch on the Black queer experience and Black feminism. Other topics, like Black Lives Matter, are now optional.

The Board also added Black conservatism as a potential research topic.

David Coleman, the head of the College Board, told The New York Times that these changes were not made to bow to political pressure.

At the College Board, we cannot look to statements of political leaders,Coleman said. The changes, he said, came from the input of professors and longstanding A.P. principles.

No. Just politics.
DeSantis is the most popularly elected Governor in Florida history and his vision for Education in the state was hardly a secret. The College Board could hardly ignore that fact.  Elections have consequences.
Exactly. Conservative Cancel Culture.
Noculture is being cancelled.  For the first time ever in Florida Black History will be inclusive and balanced.

So you post a quote saying College Board was not influenced by DeSantis or any political pressure.  Then you tell us that the CB was so influenced, and in fact that DeSantis vote count was a factor.

Well, which is it?
You answered your own question  in that post.

Red is on board with the conservative project to invent an implausible pseudo culture in which he is not a piece of shit.

Like all conservative projects it will fail at great cost and its architects will brush off their failure and try to shift the blame.

Learn to read.

You stated yourself that the Board was following their own existing guidelines and not influenced or pressured by politics.

So what does DeSantis, a grandstanding politician, have to do with it?  Its not a complex question.  Just want to hear you form an opinion in your own words.

As for vote count in Florida, did DeSantis run on removing important segments of Black history from the curriculum?  Might want to research that before answering that this is all very Vox Populi.

It's a pilot program.  Nobody who developed it is upset.  60 schools to start - not so bad at all.

Dems are just acting butthurt because, well....it's  the black voter (loving) thing to do.  And anything anti-DeSantis will play well down the line.

Apparently the president of the Florida Education Association would disagree.

Quote

(from PBS interview with Fedrick Ingram, President, Florida Education Association)

I am appalled as a native Floridian, but I am concerned as a parent, because we have Governor DeSantis, who believes that he was elected to be a king, and not the governor. This is politics 101 inside our classrooms. These are the best and brightest students who would take this class, would have an opportunity to explore advanced placement of African American history, in the same vein that we explore Italian history, or Japanese history, and or AP music theory.

These are the classes that are already offered. And to politicize African American history is shameful of this governor. And we should do better because our kids deserve better....

Here is the rest of the interview:

https://www.pbs.org/newshour/show/desantis-defends-blocking-african-american-studies-course-in-florida-schools

And, don't know about you, but I think the long and fierce struggle of Black Americans to call upon our country to live up to its ideals and its charter...is, well, really at the heart of the history of America.

Like all conservative projects it will fail at great cost and its architects will brush off their failure and try to shift the blame.

We need to bring back the hippy culture, with peace, and love, and with everyone being accepted into the communes, etc, the poor and homeless and the outcasts can ride Greyhound buses to communes to get a place to live and a community and food and a job working on the commune helping to grow food, etc. They can grow food, and they can make clothes, etc, and they can sell food to San Francisco, etc. We can get old hippies like Cher, and Meryl Streep, and Carlos Santana, and others, to help to organize the new hippy communes and to teach the hippies. There can also be a new television show about hippies on a commune trying to live with peace and love in the modern world.

Salute,

Tony V.
