Definitely good work by McCarthy.  I'm glad he's agreed to pay back (at least some of) the debt the Republicans amassed.
You must live in a cave.
The GOP bill would roll back government discretionary spending to fiscal 2022 levels in fiscal 2024.
You do know who raised 2022 discretionary spending? Hint: It was not the GOP.
Then annual spending growth at would be capped at 1% over about  a decade. In other words it would roll back spending SINCE Biden took office.

Moreover, the Biden folly to cancel up to $20,000 in student loan debt would be shelved.  That would save a total of $460 billion, according to the CBO.

And the GOP Bill would also establish work requirements for government benefits such as Medicaid, and toughen work requirements for the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program, also known as food stamps. It would also recover unspent Covid-19 relief funds.

How much of all of that will be included in a McCarthy/Biden deal is not yet clear.

But, Jesus, pay attention to the debate before posting such ignorance.

Your sides nut jobs will scuttle any deal long enough for the unions to win their 14th amendment suit and send the debt ceiling as a concept or a hostage to the dusty annals of farce where it belongs.

Unemployment at 50 year lows and a hot economy running basically at full employment these fuckers want to heap more bureaucratic bullshit on the working poor who are hustling best they can.

The cruelty is the point.

They're still playing off that ancient and debunked script of poor people who want to sit around the house and collect handouts.

Las Vegas is BOOMING big time, and with the new Brightline high speed train being built between Vegas and Rancho Cucamonga then Vegas will continue to blossom.

It is amazing to witness the birth and growth of the USA, they built Hoover Dam to provide water and electricity for Vegas and for the area, and then they started building casinos, the guys from the offshore gambling ships off Santa Monica opened casinos in Nevada, etc. And the Cowboys always loved gambling.

So now we have this wonderful city that was created in the middle of nowhere, and Vegas is providing a destination for the starving and huddled masses who are yearning to breathe free. The American Dream is alive and well in Las Vegas. And it is easy to get a job at a casino, I worked at a casino in Battle Mountain, Nevada, and I was grateful to be able to get a job there, casino jobs are good jobs for people.

And the jobs building the high speed train are all UNION jobs, with good pay and good benefits.

Also, Nevada is giving 200 million dollars per year in tax breaks for people to make movies and television shows in Nevada, for 20 years, and 2 new giant studios are being built in Vegas right now.

We can easily welcome anyone who wants to come to America and we can easily honor the words on our Statue of Liberty, we have proven that we can build wonderful cities out in the middle of nowhere such as Vegas. And the story of Vegas is still being written.

Salute,

Tony V.

Lazy and weak like the heartless core of conservative ideology.

You have nuclear.
The green dreamers here think they can run the nation, all industry, all businesses, all homes, all cars...'now', using windmills and sunshine...they can't.
Into the future they might be able to...decades from now.
Oh, and because of all the green dreaming...electricity prices are to rise another 24% from July 1st 2023.
Albo, and the new NSW state Leftist leader promised cheaper electricity...lol

You do not know what is happening in your own nation when it comes to energy.

Refining lithium would also allow Australia to tap into the Inflation Reduction Act, the Biden administration policy enacted last year. The law aims to cut into Chinas green energy dominance by offering loans or subsidies to companies in countries, like Australia, that have free trade agreements with the United States.

https://www.nytimes.com/2023/05/23/business/australia-lithium-refining.html?smid=nytcore-ios-share&referringSource=articleShare

I do, actually.
I'll come back to this lithium thing, this post, it's interesting.

Lithium is for the future...or maybe not.

Many people not happy with lithium;

Lithium-ion batteries have been cited as the cause of a spate of house fires across Australia in the past few years.
It is likely that future research will produce a different type of battery with the same properties and fewer hazards than existing lithium-ion technology - such as solid state electrolyte batteries which are currently very expensive to produce.

'Best hope yet for aluminium-ion batteries'.

#####

Now, bambu-ilk are demanding the construction of more coal and gas fired power stations...to keep the lights on, industry operating, and hot water available.
Cold showers are not comfortable.
Albo is not listening.

China is building coal fired power stations as fast as it can, India too reportedly.

Green is a dream...but having your home burn down is not worth lithium batteries...in my opinion.
No solar panels and lithium batteries will ever be installed in my home.

EV car fires are a thing.
EV cars catch fire.

I won't be getting an Electric vehicle or hybrid vehicle.

The pollution from burning coal puts Mercury into the fish, and thus we cannot eat the fish. For a moment they were telling us that only the fish from Alaska were safe to eat, they even said that eating canned tuna was bad for you because of the Mercury.

So, we need to clean up our environment so that we can eat the local fish. The cleaner our environment is then the safer the fish are to eat.

We can have a giant seafood industry from the local Pacific Ocean here, if we stop polluting the water.

It is worth it to have a clean environment.

And I love seafood, I am a big fan of seafood.

Salute,

Tony V.
