Ask Condoleezza Rice, if we seal the border we lose freedom, we need to make our immigrants legal, and we need to write a new immigration law with a good neighbor policy. We also need to let the Mexicans join the Teamsters Union, etc, along with the United Farm Workers, etc.

When I went to Mexico with Youth for Christ then I did not even need a passport, the border was wide open then and it was just fine.

And we need to bring people out of the shadows, bad things happen in the shadows, we need for them to be legal and to be able to call the police to report a crime, etc, and we need for them to be able to join labor unions so they will be paid fair and treated well. People do bad things in the shadows, we need to bring our people out of the shadows and make them legal.

If you seal the border, and only let into America people who are identified, background checked, and then approved by the federal govt...America will be a better place, a safer place.
No undesirables, no criminals, no drug cartelliers, no 'anchor babies' let in...with America nothing but a nice, orderly society in which the govt knows who's who and what's what.
It can then have planned and orderly migration, with infrastructure not swamped.

I have no problem with the checks. We need to increase the bandwidth of our legal immigration tenfold at least and provide wraparound services to those in the process that continue for a least a decade after arrival and anyone here now without a felony conviction needs to be added to the process if they are recent or given a chance to move immediately into citizenship if they can pass the test and they have been here fifteen or more years.

Legal, controlled, compassionate, rational, beneficial immigration that addresses our growing demographic crisis and our national values is what we need.

The Americans who built America were overwhelmingly immigrants and a huge number were undocumented. Some of the really tough jobs up on girders went in a larger fraction to natives who made up most of those with the balls and grace to actually do them.

Trump kept undocumented East Germans as slaves because he did not want to follow the law and employ union workers.
