Discovered the forum welcome thread, with the basic information about ExElba, was accidentally blocked from view. If anyone here visited there and could not see that intro announcement, it's fixed and you can maybe get a clearer idea of what it about. It will have a couple rules of engagement that will make it distinctly different from Elba, so give it a chance. (also it's a very simple board structure, not in any way an attempt to replicate what's here or the former NYT fora)
The line will be drawn at personal atacks and the scatological stuff, but that won't mean you can't hold posters accountable for what they say. My experience as a web admin elsewhere was that, if you can't call names, it forces you to address the content of the post with which you take issue.
FOR EXAMPLE
If someone presents news from a source that you believe has a racist bias as to content selection, you can point out how that is happening. IOW, you could point out that someone's opinion is being formed by a biased news feed without having to wield an ad hominem, not call them a bigot or racist or a syphilitic old cunt with a necrotic clitoris or whatever. IOW, attack the idea not the person.
Sure, it's an experiment. The Third Eye alums will handle those guardrails easily, you guys I'm not so sure about.
