Funny how these sealed border martinets can always glibly suggest "shut it down tight," without risking their reelectability by actually sponsoring legislation that would provide the big money to do that. 

What it would take is multiples of present border patrols, some international agreement with Mexico to close their southern border and provide them refugee assistance money, and a multinational force to close the Darien Gap.  Venezuelans are not insane - they will keep fleeing until their country fixes its horrendous problems.

Historically most sealed borders however they are sold are created more to keep people in than to keep people out.
