Public sentiment is skewed by republicans who cannot find anything to buy in any store to reduce the shame and taint of having climbed so far into the diaper of trump that they can no longer get out. They all tell pollsters that to them the economy feels bad.

A library of number crunching on recent economic polling shows this effect and that it accounts for much of the current divergence between expressed public sentiment and underlying economic factors that have typically tracked more closely through their history.

Opposing open borders is not why you get called out as a racist. Leaving aside that we.do not have an open border there are plenty of non racists who support increased security. Not when compared to pre pandemic growth.
We still are in job recovery but 17% inflation is not sitting well with voters.
