An American man's daughter's summer camp finished early. She returned home early, hid inside family home in closet near the front foyer. When parents returned home in the night she exited to surprise them.
Somehow, her father shot her dead.

The noise in the kitchen at 2am could be one of the kids stumbling around in the dark half asleep trying to get some milk and cookies.

The Aussie guy, married to an American gal, baby, in Texas, was shot dead by 3 armed intruders in his home's kitchen at night when he went to investigate a noise.
He needed an AR15 set on 'auto'...his finger on the trigger ready to fire.
He only had his bare hands.

Years ago when I was a young man I had an apartment at Queens Terrace in a sketchy neighborhood of Hampton, VA.

One early morning I heard the back window sliding open and someone fall entering my place.
My girlfriend looked at me and asked if I heard that. Yeah.

I dialed 911 and handed her the phone as I grabbed a heavy duty stapler off my drafting table and went to the top of the stairs.

I yelled EVERYTHING DOWN THERE IS YOURS! EVERYTHING UP HERE IS MINE! YA DIG? and made a big deal of clacking open the stapler and slapping it shut.


There was a big commotion as the burglar busted his ass going out the way he came in.

Within 20 minutes the cops showed up looked around and found a bag of stolen shit in my living room. My girl wanted to know why I had not gone down stairs to investigate

Found myself contemplating the concept of Cafeteria Catholics yesterday, Divine Mercy Sunday, when we are treated to the following, from The Acts of the Apostles:

Now the company of those who believed were of one heart and soul, and no one said that any of the things which he possessed was his own, but they had everything in common. And with great power the apostles gave their testimony to the resurrection of the Lord Jesus, and great grace was upon them all. There was not a needy person among them, for as many as were possessors of lands or houses sold them, and brought the proceeds of what was sold and laid it at the apostles' feet; and distribution was made to each as any had need.

Who resent their body autonomy stripped away. Once a person loses control of oneself to the power of the state they are no longer a citizen but a subject. Totally unAmerican.

neatly pedicured feet.  Free pedicures are part of communal life.  I was fortunate enough to visit the sacred reliquary of toenail clippings at the Shrine of St. Nguyen.
