Baseball balls have now been phased out, even in the intercontinental league, the last and most traditional of the three leagues. All pitches are virtual and stats are kept on velocity, exit angle, brexit angle, and Adam Engel.
Bases are no longer necessary as running has been deemed an "injury-risk" that Amazon insurance refuses to cover. All baserunning will be done via computer based on 40 yard sprint speeds held at the Baseball Combines every year. Speeds will accrue 1.5 degrees of age-related air-resistance per season the batter has in the major leagues. A season is defined as 40 games out of the possible 162 games.
Baseball will always be 162 games. They will just be 45 minutes long.
