Than Valentine?

Sure. Even Trump... nah, nevermind.

Cora = Farrell in your imagination, Kiiid, and no where else.

You didn't like Farrell then?  Why not?

Anthony Volpe somewhat surprisingly goes to Yankees.  Example of a kid that benefitted from having a teammate getting exposure.  My guess is either Yanks

a)  cut a below slot deal with Volpe prior to taking him

or

b)  were OK with the scenario where they cant sign him but would get an additional first rounder next year.

(Volpe and Leiter are slated to attend Vanderbilt together)

Some Jeter in Volpe, surely.  Smaller, little less range and speed, but heady and can rake.

Sox also grabbed a prep SS on day 1.  They dropped ten slots due to luxury tax penalty.

Leiter did not go top 2 rounds, amidst murmurs that "he's GOING to Vanderbilt"

Interesting about the SS Volpe - he was tied to really just one team in round 1 - Seattle at 20 (Yanks picked 30th).

Yanks hadnt really let on they might take him.  Thus my guess is Mariners thought they might be able to take a pitcher at 1 and get Volpe second round.

Well played, NY.

Yanks get Leiter in round 20

Wouldnt be surprised to see them offer matching 2 mil deals to him and his buddy Volpe.

Nice to see the Red Sox draft Dewey Evan's grandson. Maybe he can end up in an outfield with Yaz's grandson, someday.

Great CFBW last night for the Phightin' Phils to start off a most challenging stretch of their season playing 4 against Brewers at home. Later this week, they have 3 vs Rockies, then on the road for 3 vs Cubs, 3 in Milwaukee; then home for 3 against St.Lo, and following that with a 6 game West Coast road trip to LA and SD. And all of that in the league where they still play real baseball.

If they win 11 of those 22, they'll be okay. If they win +11, they'll be a team to reckon with all season long.

Play ball, boys!

Well, well, well. They won 12 of those. But...lost McCutcheon for the season. Lost their CF due to his off field issue, as they should've. Picked up Bruce. Brought up the rookie Haseley . Saw Kingerery emerge as a threat. Saw Franco burn out. Saw three pitchers get injured. Got swept in LA, with two of the three games blown late.

Next stretch includes 3 games vs Reds, 3 D'backs at home, then 3@ATL and 4 @ DC. Then home for 3 vs Fish, and 4 vs The Mighty Mets.

And more adjustments to the lineup coming.

The reckoning continues. Take 13 wins out of that stretch and be happy.

For.what it is worth, we got Miguel Cairo's kid, and someone with the nickname Bottles.

I am starting to think our starting pitching depth might not carry us through this year after all.
