 Phillies ring the bell!

Always good to win the opener. Always great to beat the Braves!

Quinn throws out Albies at home on a 284 foot fly ball to CF to end top 10.  Phils then advance Harper to third (REalmuto ground ball to 2B) and Segura 2 out drive down the LF line plates the winner.
note:  I had previously dropped Segura from my fantasy team.  May add him back.

I do not LIKE(as not in favor)  that MLB has instituted the tie break rules for tenth inning on.  But it sure does add some spice to managing/critiquing managing - and the required skillsets of players in moving runners/defending scoring plays in tight games.

Cole blows lead, Yanks lose.

BOMB by T Hernandez on a hanging breaking pitch delivered by Cole, who was very impressive.

Yes, hung that one, but Cole was being worked for long counts by the BJ's throughout the game. He really relies a lot on the FB being located well to set up his other pitches. But yesterday his control was a little off. A little off for him, though, is what a lot of pitchers would like to be able to say.

Aaron Nola was very impressive and threw one bad (his 85th) pitch that put the game into extras. Out-pitched Fried.

Umps had their first blown call of the season as Harper was not out going from first to third, but he did later score the winning run on Jean Segura-victory's base hit.

Covid by-product: Jacob deGrom will pitch what will now be the Mets' first game of the season on Monday against the Phillies in Philadelphia at 7:05 p.m. on SNY.

Carton on the FAN going nuts on how Mets were screwed.  Partner Roberts thinks MLB should have allowed the games to go on, with replacement players at the ready by design.

MLB just pulled the ASG and the Draft from Atlanta. No new site chosen, yet.

May I suggest Philadelphia, Birthplace of American Freedom?

https://www.cnbc.com/2021/04/02/major-league-baseball-pulls-2021-all-star-game-out-of-atlanta-due-to-the-states-new-restrictive-voting-law.html

“Major League Baseball fundamentally supports voting rights for all Americans and opposes restrictions to the ballot box,” Manfred said. “In 2020, MLB became the first professional sports league to join the non-partisan Civic Alliance to help build a future in which everyone participates in shaping the United States. We proudly used our platform to encourage baseball fans and communities throughout our country to perform their civic duty and actively participate in the voting process. Fair access to voting continues to have our game’s unwavering support.”

Sox get 2 on, with 2 walks, but fail to score.

Go to the ninth.
