Not sure how else a batter-runner is supposed to get to the bag.

I think the decision was wrong, but I guess their argument is that he should have approached it from foul territory.

It's a good thing that the game did not end up hinging on that play.

Or unhinging, in the case of the Nats' manager.

Via the runners lane where the rules provide him safe harbor from an interference call.

Great job by Coach Chip Hale holding him back - and bad job by the ump who kept coming forward at Brentwood Dave
