Will do.

Josh-perhaps you can set up a Red-specfic troll forum so you two guys can rag on each other and clean-up the Trump forum.

You may have noticed (or may not have, I suppose), but I have almost totally stopped responding to his posts.

I've largely stopped responding to Bambi. Kid is next.

I'll try to engage with posters who actually want dialog, even when one disagrees with them. No guarantee that I won't backslide, but that's the goal, overall.

and we gotta Game 7

And that makes two of them!

We're getting our money's worth, at least!

And it was nice to see Mookie performing.

I didn't watch the LA-ATL game but saw the hi-lites, that was a helluva catch and throw by Mookie.

Baseball needs more baseball in it.

the plays are what makes the game great- not the Ks and homers.

I was watching the Astro's-Rays game and posting at SoSH

and there was a half-inning (the Astro's top of the 8th)

and to quote myself

Quote from: bankshot1, post: 4103011, member: 9

that half-inning was the epitome of what's wrong with baseball

3 walks

3 strikeouts

0 balls in play

0 baseball action

we need more baseball in baseball

YOUTH game last week.

Team nursing a 2-1 cushion, but opposition has 2 on, none out bottom 7 (last inning)

After fouling off a bunt attempt, LH hitter drills a ball to the fence in deep center

Runner at 2B holds up between 2nd and 3rd, thinking CF may have a play on the ball

CF plays ball barehanded off the fence, fires a pea to SS who with unbelievable quickness turns and fires a strike to the waiting C.

The play was on a PRO level in terms of execution.  I am talking ROCKET ARMS - and zero hesitation.
What kids practice for years to achieve.

So after the sweep tag, umpire just stands there, making no call.  I cant believe my eyes - he is actually going to say the C missed the tag.

2nd and 3rd, lead kept, 1 out turns into tie game, none out, winning run at third.

True - there WAS a home run in this game - and some impressive mound work.  But what I'd recall - whether or not HP ump botches the call - would be THIS PLAY.  The great game or baseball, represented well by high school juniors and seniors.  A day well spent indeed.

In a wholly unscientific poll on SoSH, I posed the following question earlier today.

So far there have been about 85 respondents.

Normally I wouldn't root for either the Astro's or Rays as the Astro's are low-life buzzer wearing , bang the trash-can slowly and loudly cheaters and the Rays have become a hated division rival that play in a trash-can. But as the Astros have knotted the series at 3-3, I asked myself, so who's it going to be Bankshot? Who are you rooting for tonight?

I could cop to indifference, but that seems to skirt an inner conflict.

The conflict in making a decision, as it were, is I feel, and I suspect other Sox fans might feel the same way, is that we feel like we have sole ownership of the intangible benefit of the "only team to have come back from being down 0-3 in the MLB post-season". Every time some MLB, NBA, NHL team goes into the darkness of a no-hope 0-3 abyss, we get the gift that keeps on giving as ESPN, Fox, TNT, TBS, ABC, NBC, remind the nation of the glorious '04 ALCS and those 4 very improbable and unique consecutive wins hanging from a cliff as the MFY stomped on our knuckles as we held on for 1-more game.

There is some pride involved here, and my knuckles are still a little sore.

Yes I'm a greedy, needy child at heart.

I don't want to share, at least not with the cheatin' Astros.

But I don't want to root for the Rays.

But tonight I will.

How about you?

One 7th game to go.

A good game, obviously better for *Tampa Bay.

Who are you cheering for tomorrow? The cheated-against LA Dodgers or the "Atlanta Baseball Team?"

The Braves managed to win the pennant 5 times in the 90s, but come up with one World Series trophy. And since 1999, they've made it to the playoffs 10  times, but not made it to the World Series even once. So... 18 playoff appearances in 30 years, with one Series championship to show for it.

The Dodgers didn't get to the Series from 1989-2016. Then they made it twice in a row, only to be faced with Alex Cora, twice. (And while the Sox may have been found not guilty of cheating in the World Series, I suspect not every Dodger was satisfied with that answer, no matter what Joe Kelly said.)

25 year drought vs. 32 year drought.

And whichever team wins will face a team that didn't even exist the last time they were in the World Series! TB has only even played in it once - a 22 year drought.

And, of course, while Tampa was much farther south than Houston, Atlanta is only 18 miles further south than LA - practically the same, on the scale of the planet.

In the ALCS poll referenced above of 99 respondents

79% Rays

7%  Astros

14% IDC

Congrats to the Rays

Best part of the Rays winning this year is that we won't have to watch them playing the 2020 World Series* in that shit hole ball park.

I think tomorrow I'm rooting for some cousins who moved from Boston to Milwaukee and then Atlanta
