Just looked at Vizqeul's numbers - and there is no doubt in my mind that he belongs in the Hall of Fame.

For a guy of his stature, 50+ RBI seasons count.

Scored 100+ more than once

Total number of hits (2877) and runs (1445)

Plus the 11 GG.

Adolph Schilling has asked the BBWA to remove his name from the ballot for the HoF next year. Given that two plahers who are obviously paper qualified to have been first ballot Hallcof Famers cannot get over the bump due to PED allegations,.and that the two best qualified additions to next year's ballots are also PED tainted, will we go two years on a row without the writers electing anyone to the Hall?

By the way - kudos to John Jastremsky (WFAN evenings) for having the cajones to  all a spade a spade - that Schill IS undoubtedly a Hall of Famer

This after the assedness shown by PC group Carlos Pena and Bill Ripken - first to comment (MLB Network), who crowed that "its a tough Hall to get into" and the Schilling vote is proving this out.

No player to get 70+% of the vote has ever stayed out of the Hall, right?

Thus the masses have already spoken on the issue, no matter how PC they wish to be

Dustin Pedroia to retire

one of my favorites.

played hard every game, played with a lot of swagger there was a lot of ballplayer in that little guy

Pedey was so much fun to watch play, he always had the dirtiest uni, he busted his ass and looked like he loved doing it.

IMO only injuries keep him out of the HoF.

First 5 or so years Nomar looked like he was a future HoFer-but was never the same player after the wrist surgery in '01.

NOMAR had a WAR6 of 40+ (add top 6 WAR years), which is top level for a middle infielder.  His 7th best year was just a  2.8, so the WAR7 is about 43.

Pedey was at WAR7 40, I think.

I think Pedroia's got a decent-arguable case. But the injuries killed his counting stats. He was one of the best fielding 2nd baseman I've seen play, fearless (unfortunately) around the bag, great range, and a great arm. And he was a legit .300 hitter with decent power. 4 GGs (should have been at least 5) ROY, MVP. He would not be out of place in the HoF

I never really thought Evans was a HoF, but I'd vote for Luis.
